Royal oak or Code 1159?
Hi everyone! I have a 15400 black dial. Should I sell it and buy a Code 1159? I know there are a lot of people hate it, but I think Code1159 is not the bad. I like the 15210CR. The combination of white gold and rose gold looks great!
Can I have some advice? Thank you. |

Absolutely not. While I am one that believes the Code line has a lot of positives (I own the 15210CR smoked gray dial), it is not a substitute for a Royal Oak.
Keep the 15400 as that’s a beautiful watch. Add the Code when you’re ready, and maybe you will see some new models that will catch your eye even more. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Oh goodness no. Don’t do that.
If anything add. If I gave you that trade straight up, I would walk away with both a more iconic watch and 7-20k extra in the pocket to take you out for beers. DavidSW has a new one for 25k USD. I would say I’m tempted at that price. |

I think adding would be preferable, but the codes are really excellent in some variants, and the strap options can change the character of the watch. If you did the switch, would you be buying from boutique? I really enjoy my Codes and would be loathe to part with them.

Wait for the next generation code. The CODE with ceramic chronograph is really nice, with the openworked variant but the price is too high.

I like two tone (rose gold+white gold) because of the Remaster01, but the Remaster01 is out of budget, so I am thinking about the code11.59

The way I think about this secondary vs secondary value is if someone literally paid me 80HKD, would I be willing to not wear the RO (but wear the Code)? No, in this case I'd rather wear the RO. Further, I'd rather pay a bit extra to wear the RO on strap for the variety and change of visual scenary on the wrist the strap look provides in both leather and rubber.
However, if I didn't have the Code, I would be willing to pay the current secondary price. I think it's under valued in a way, strangely enough. Both because of consistent price increases, and also because the number of people buying Codes to get RO (I'm guessing, emphasis on guessing) means they are unlikely to unload those Codes on the secondary market for various reasons. And thus new Codes likely only available at list price without discount. |

I personally wouldn't do it, but I do like the Code 11.59 quite a bit. I'd think they be very complementary to one another in your collection.
Pricing is still quite reasonable as I routinely see Codes on the grey market for 20-25% under retail depending on dial/color/style. |

Whatever you like. I've never understood asking a group of random watch enthusiasts what you prefer.

Do you want to listen to these guys, or do you want to do what you want? These guys are flipping ALL the time. Buy what you like, especially since you doubled your money on the royal oak. Enjoy the code if you love it.

The Code is not bad, but if you let go of your RO you’ll realize it was an amazing watch.

+1 on this great statement and from someone that loves his Code. Save up and get it later. That 15400 is a beauty. |

Royal Oak all day! My favorite SS watch of all time - I would take the RO over 5711 hahaha. Yet again - I never had a 5711 on my wrist!!!

"not that bad" is not exactly a ringing endorsement for a $30k trinket. Funds permitting I'm looking forward to adding a Code at some point (Gold/CE chrono or QP), but as the only AP I'd stick with a RO. Of course, if you REALLY like the Code better than the RO for actual wear, knock yourself out and don't listen to people here!

The Code is getting more popular now. If you can make a deal that after you acquire the Code, AD will give you a chance to acquire ROC that will be a great deal.
After you have both the Code and ROC, you can sell 15400ST at that time if you need the money for something else.
