That's very similar to my experience. The SA told me if I order a silver or black dial will be able to deliver a lot sooner. I tried on the chronograph but it was just too big and thick on the wrist.

If allocation is spoken for they can place you on the wishlist. When they receive their allocation for the next year they go through by date they placed people on the wishlist and ask for a deposit. I didn't ask how much deposit they wanted but have heard anywhere between thirty and fifty per cent. If you place a deposit you are guaranteed a watch. Once the allocation for the year is spoken for they contact the rest of the people on the wishlist and ask if they want to stay on there or be taken off.

They did say they were unsure if this system would remain in place in future as they have never experienced such high demand for their watches. They did say that they can guarantee that purchase history does not make any difference to when you move up the list and that although head office could change how the wishlist works in future they were of the opinion that it won't affect people already on there. They were adamant that Vacheron wants people to be able to get a watch no matter their history with the brand.

They also said if you want a black dial it is going to be a lot quicker than the blue and that silver is by far the quickest. I am happy to wait two or three years for the blue dial as this is the only watch from the Holy Trinity that I like. The fact I don't need to buy other models (which I don't have the budget for) is icing on the cake.

That rose gold version on the blue rubber strap …. to me, that combo is one of the best looking available from any brand today.

Please post pictures when it arrives.

I have a blue dial chrono on order. I was lucky enough to get the last piece allocated to Australia. It required a 30% deposit and I was told the wait would be 4-6 months.

I am really loving what VC are doing these days.

I saw this version in the flesh when I was at a boutique many months ago (was for another customer). Absolutely stunning. Congrats in advance!

I am on the waiting list but my SA don't even know for sure that when it is coming.

The price already gone up 11% since I put my deposit.

The VCs are having movement issues, component failure problems, they have a slew of redesigned parts that are installed at the service center. This is info from my watch maker who works as a service engineer for another high end brand. Word gets around in those circles…

Hmm interesting. "Another high end brand". I think there are many 4500 owners here and even in social media. Yet I haven't heard anything like this

There is a fairly demanding clientele in this field and these prices charged, if the watches would be catastrophic or badly designed, the market would not be this one, with great reputation and desirability as a bonus.

I think he wanted to advertise you in his own way for this other high end brand ...
When you work for Ferrari, you can spit on Lamborghini, but it's pretty lousy.

Rather than dropping and leaving this here, perhaps you may want to take the time to provide some further background? As it stands, we have no way to confirm the veracity of your claim and the mods may as well delete it.
