Jaeger Le coultre MUT moon39
Currently looking at a preowned version of this watch however information appears scarce. Any owners on here care to share some thoughts and experiences.
I know they are not the best in relation to value retention but I am going down the preowned route. Any advice welcome |

Had one previously in steel. Very nice watch - simple and elegant. Can't go wrong pre-owned. I've seen them pop up in the forum listings here from time to time

Agree, it is a very nice watch. I had both the silver and black dial in the past. The watch wears great and it is by far one of my favorite case designs. The only negative is the legibility of the date. While the black dial was slightly easier to read, the date is still small and hard to read for me. I currently have the MUT perpetual and the date is a bit easier to read than the Moon variant.

As others have mentioned, the date is difficult to make out. Other than that, it's a classy watch.

I owned one for a while, really nice watch and hard to beat at the price (especially if you buy preowned).
Newer versions have the nicer rotor in gold, it makes the movement look so much better and more expensive. Readability is not great on the silver dial (the one I had), but now there is also a black dial. Depending on your taste you might consider it. The watch is very flat and looks great with a suit, but can be dressed down as well.

By far one of the nicest watches i have ever owned. Excellent value, elegant, very well executed. Mine was stolen a year and a half ago but will be adding one again soon.

I was considering the MUT but the way the bezel connects to the watch body looks a bit rough to me. It may be a purely visual effect that still changes the impression of an otherwise very classy watch on me.

One of my grails. If you have a small wrist however the stock strap will be too large so take that into account.

Had the white dial in steel. Beautiful and elegant, but I didn't find it incredibly versatile. It's too formal of a watch to wear with anything non dressed up, and I rarely dress up. Legibility can be an issue as well, especially on the date as others have said. Also - on the white dial, the Moon is mirror finished and steel, which makes it impossible to see if there is anything blocking the light (like your head, when your looking at the watch) which bothered me a great deal. TL;DR: Incredibly elegant watch at an extremely good price point. However, it skews quite formal, so keep that in mind if you don't find yourself in suits often. |

Had one. Elegant but ditto on legibility. Was part of a three for one trade for a Patek Calatrava.

I was disappointed when I had the steel in my hands, did nothing for me. The gold however...

Great looking watching and nothing wrong with it. I just fear I would get bored someday and try to replace it with an ALS or Calatrava.

I'm selling mine because I want to get the rose gold version instead.
It's a great watch, and the steel version is versatile because it can be used as both a formal and a casual piece. Check here: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/pri...n-4597129.html |

I’ve had mine since 2012. Wore it on my wedding day. Not sure I agree it can be dressed down that much (with shorts) but I wear mine out dinners and such with a button down and jeans. It’s very under the radar but I find it extremely classy. All in all it’s a beautiful watch. I own the silver face version in s.s. With the silver moon and black strap(I.e. the original). I have a 7” wrist and I’m on the smallest hole for the strap.

Ok thanks guys. Once again the persuasive powers of TRF won me over. The weight of the SS and silver dial were my concerns in the main however DavidSW stepped up again and this beauty arrived yesterday. It was supposed to be an end game piece, the missing link dress watch in the collection but I have a sneaky feeling it might be the start of something ...
May my fellow owners wear in good health and those looking at this thread with th view to buying jump in and do it! |

Good move! The gold is much more legible than the steel, my main gripe with the watch. Looks great. Enjoy it

Jaeger Le coultre MUT moon39
By far my favorite JLC. The SS models are too “muted” for me but really like the gold with this dial.
Congrats.
