Can I apply to be a moderator? I promise, I won't abuse any powers, except during the Platona giveaway.

It's going to be imperative my kids realize what happens on the interwebs and social media should be shrugged off.

It's really a shame how we have come to this. My father would need to walk a mile to school with no shoes as a kid. I can't imagine his reply or facial expression if I cried about how I was teased online.

I had to walk a mile to school, barefoot in the snow, uphill in both directions.

I am not sure there has been an increase in the hostility recently but I really try to not get worked up over something someone posts on an Internet forum.

There seem to be a few members where is it pretty obvious they don’t care for each other. (Unlike Jocke and Paul......and Anna). When they get to going at it I just hit the back button and move on to the next thread.

I think there is more silliness being posted. Like everything else, personal opinions. I had bought my and my ex’es first Rolexes probably a year before I even knew of forums. I’d like to think that I’m not part of whatever negativity goes on here.

I have not noticed any increase in the OP description. I have only been around for a couple of years, but have been active on other forums. This forum IMO, is well moderated and well behaved compared to others. When someone does step out of line it is usually dealt with quick.

I may have a different opinion about a topic and I can choose whether to participate or not. I can also choose whether I want to let something someone posted on the internet affect me. I guess I am not that sensitive....

This is not consistent with the Neo-Marxist Postmodernist movement on American college campuses.

It's not just Campus in the U.S. where free speech is increasingly discouraged.
Political Correctness has just about stifled free speech everywhere in Australia.
A couple of students taken to court by the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner (ex-Academic) recently over a very innocuous remark that another person said had offended her.
This situation has been exacerbated by politicians who will go along with anything that they feel ingratiates them with any section of the electorate, however small.
IMHO "offense" taken as a result of disagreement with someones views should be disregarded. Personal attacks are a different thing entirely and have no place on public Forums.

we are living in increasingly polarizing times, that is a fact. Its only natural that the increased polarization of our everyday lives spills over into a forum. Thinly veiled political statements like this are part of the problem as then people automatically make a decision on the poster wether you like them or not as its either really poor form to say that or you like it. There isnt much middle ground as snowflake refers both to younger generations and liberals and is meant to be an insult.

Not judging either way as you certainly have the right to say what you want, but think of other words that are supposed to be insulting to groups of people... those are for sure not acceptable and no one says them. It has nothing to do with political correctness either.

Political correctness is using words to avoid offending but this is using words with the intent to cause offense which is the opposite.

I think the winter season, at least where I am, is causing people to get uptight. I believe it's called "Cabin Fever."

Can't say I've noticed too much in the way of an upturn in pleasantness. I'm prone to letting the odd rude word slip out but usually in the form of an adjective.

However, I have noticed a minor increase in the number of snowflakes who take offence at every opportunity in life in general but much more so in the real world than on here.

An upturn in pleasantness?

Do you need a proofreader?

Turtle is a little tough for taco's. It stews great though.
