I went with a Pelikan Indian Summer with a fine nib. It's a great writer and, being from MA, I love the dark orange/brown colors that we enjoy in the Fall. I wasn't too sure on ink choice so I got a bottle of Pelikan Brown to start off. I can't wait for both pens to arrive!

Nice selection.
It's 8 times your initial plan but the most important thing is that you've found
the FP that you like (and can't go wrong with Pelikans).
Congrats!

Thanks. I found a really good deal on one (close to 40% off retail) so I couldn't pass it up.

Noonan..Welcome to the dark side

I know I am going to sound like I am one repeat with this one but can I recommend Private reserve copper burst as it has a wonderful autumnal colour to it that would match the Pelikan perfectly!

Well done as well, you are about to enter the pure joy of writing with a fountain pen..Have you got a nice journal to write in??

Thanks for the ink advice. I'll check that style out for sure. No journal yet, just standard legal pads. I can't imagine one will be far behind though.

Congrats on the special edition Pelikan! I can only wish for one.

FWIW, I've been journaling in a Moleskine for the past year and it'll probably be my first and last Moleskine. The Pelikan is very wet and results in bleeding and feathering. Bleeding is ok, as I write on one side only, but the feathering can be irritating. Anyway, well done and Cheers!

How about Pilot's IROSHIZUKU series ink?

FUYU-GAKI (Winter Persimmon)
MOMIJI (Autumn Leaves)

I love the namings of Iroshizuku line.

Joji, thank you for posting the chart. I had a chance to try the pine tree dew the other week and loved the colour..Little on the pricey side though

Having said that I really like the idea behind the ink being about ancient historical colours and natural beauty.

Ian, you are welcome.
According to pilot the ink colors reflect the beautiful natural scenery of Japan.
I have been looking at Yama-Budo.

Great chart. I think I like the Field Horsetail Brown the best. I agree with Ian though, a bit on the pricey side at ~$22 a bottle.

The horsetail and wild mountain grape look good to me. Might give the wild mountain grape a go!

Dave, I agree, I may be broke now after buying fountain pens, notebooks and covers but at least I can write with a flair and a style unique to me.....

With my favorite pen a certain solace has washed over myself as I contemplate my next move and direction to go in. Of course I'd rather be impulsive and go buy another pen!!!

Came home, after a long day at work, to two packages! Here are two quick pictures. The rollerball writes amazing, although it's a little lighter than I had hoped. It's darker and more stone-like in person. I'll be able to fill the Indian Summer tomorrow when I have more time to play.

Wow, great looking pens, Noonan (sorry, every time I read your name I think of Caddyshack ). I really like the Indian Summer. Very eye catching. Congrats!

Thanks John. I actually use this user name because of Caddyshack. It just kinda stuck when I was younger. I can't count the amount of times I've seen that movie.

I've gone through one fill of ink so far and I'm loving it. It certainly takes a bit to get used to writing with a fountain pen but it's a welcome change. I'll try to get some pics of a writing sample up soon.

Just wait..........till you start ordering different ink colors for your pen. Then you will start buying more fountain pens and the addiction begins!!!

I know what you mean. As much as I like it, I'm already contemplating flipping the rollerball to fund another fountain model. It's an out of production SE though so I'd like to keep it if possible. Maybe I'll see if my boss will allow some OT to fund my addiction.
