Send modern explorer ii for polishing only? La Watchworks

Howdy!

I acquired a Pre owned 216570 2 months ago for a steal (full set, warranty card nov 2016). However the previous owner left a few nicks and swirls to the case and bracelet.

Should I send this to la watchworks for a factory spec overhaul polish for $350?

I have never used them but their work looks awesome and they claim to be able to take it back to factory specifications.

You may want to do some further research before just sending out to someone you are not familiar with.

It looks great but I would have it done anyway.

You'll get back a brand new very clean looking watch, you will be amazed how it will look and ready to receive your own scratches.

I ve only read good things about LA watchworks.

I would send it to them without hesitation, i wouldnt want to wear a $6k watch that was beat up by the previous owner.

After the polish, all the new dings and bumps will be from your life's journey, not the guy before you.

I have had numerous watches serviced and polished over the last decade. I only trust Dalton to do this work. I just read that he recently achieved the Rolex equivalent of CW21 status and now splits his time between working for an AD and is back at LAWW.

I don’t like scratches and dings. That being said I know Dalton did me right the one time I sent a watch to have a deep gouge laser welded. Just my .02.

Honestly, the scratches don't look too bad, IMO. I would see if they could laser weld that one nick, though. That would drive me crazy.

And then just leave the scratches for your first service.

I live in what was one of the main cities for the production of silverware in the world and have watched many craftsmen use professional polishing machines. Let me assure you it is a proper skill.

I have a similar machine to these, but there is no way I would use one (or suggest anybody else does) on a watch.

Too much pressure, too little compound, wrong compound or wrong dolly wheel and you will have ruined your watch it in a few seconds.

Personal preference, but I don't bother having my watches polished when servicing. I might have it serviced if you merely want the piece of mind in authenticating the watch, but being less than two years from original purchase, it likely doesn't need a service. How is it keeping time?

Congratulations on the Exp2 42mm! It's a great watch!

Additionally, the scratches are not yours (or from someone you care about). Just make sure it goes to someone who knows what they’re doing.

Yeah it takes time to learn to do it right

I use to build 3 piece wheels/rims for fun. Mirror shine. :)

Any RSC should be able to handle that. It's a pretty new watch.

Still looks mint from the photos. I would send it in once the bezel numbers start fading. Just my opinion.

Based on the photos I wouldn’t send the watch away for a polish yet, still looks like it’s in good condition.
