For Sale???

i was at a Buben & Zorweg Boutique today looking at some winders and watch boxes. While the sales man was showing me some models 3 Dutch men walk in and look around, they spot my GV and come over to say hi, and out of the blue one of them asks me:

Dutch Man: "Do you want to sell your Milgauss?"

(Me) Reply: "Sorry if i do im afraid i wont see one for the next few years on my wrist"

Dutch man: "I will pay 14 thousand USD cash $$$$$"

(Me) Reply: "Sorry my friend i dont think i can let it go"

Dutch man: "Okay i will pay 15 thousand USD cash"

(Me) Reply: "Sorry again, i saw one on ebay for 20 thousand USD and if you offered me that i wouldnt sell"

To each their own, I would have left without a watch.

I would have sold it without a second thought. You can replace it with a little effort and have $5k in your pocket.

I too would have left without a watch but as was said, "to each their own."

Depends on how much you like your GV, I guess. You have to do what makes you happy.

I wish to correct my last post. There are 10 for sale on ebay right now. 5 have 'Buy it now" option and all can be bought around $8k US. If you sold the watch to the Dutchman, you wuld have had a new watch plus $7,000 in your pocket!!!

You could have replaced the GV and had enough left over to buy 1-2 more Rolexes. Sheesh.

I hate to say it, but as much as I love my Milly, if someone offered me double MSRP paid via stacks of USD's, I would uncuff her in a moments notice.

Unless I am mistaken, those $8K Milly's are the clear glass versions...not the GV. The GV's seem to be going for $12k-15K.

Those are not GV's on ebay. They are the regular black dials

My bad, you are correct. Still, I would have sold it in a heartbeat at double the MSRP. Just me.

As to the one at $20k. I know the seller and he is a nice guy but prices his watches to the moon as he is in Beverly Hills. He was asking $3500 for a watch and I ended up paying him almost half that. What he's asking and what they are worth aren't usually the same so I wouldn't use his listing as a basis for anything.

The good news is you didn't need to sell it and chose not too. The choice was right for you so, Enjoy your watch!

Guys, why are they so valuable? Are they rare or do they have some sort of special feature?

They're new to the market and supply is limited. For now.

You know, I hate this kind of offer, I feel like I've been asked to sell my wife. You did the right thing in my book. Enjoy your girl in good health!

I understand the GV has green crystal, and because of quality issues the Milgaus with green crystal is no longer available until Rolex fix the problem. Hey guys, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

There is the chance that if they can not get the green crystal issue fixed and they go regular clear glass or something different, then this watch may skyrocket. Perhaps even over $20K

But time will tell.

Its all relative, if one is a Millionaire then 20,000 is not that much, however, if you have saved for 5 years to be able to buy a Rolex then 20,000 is a fortune.

If Rolex can't fix the glass issue, the GV could be quite collectible. If there wasn't an issue in production, I would have sold it.

At double MSRP it would of been history. As much as I love my watches they can all be replaced, especially the new ones. Once Rolex fixes the crystal delay prices will fall like a rock.
