Never had to wait this long for a watch
Hey guys, I thought I'd share. Around 2015 we decided to move and I decided to get rid of a lot of things I had to free up some cash and clean house. Sold my pinball machines because I didn't use them a lot, some watches because I didn't wear them a lot and I even sold my 911 after a bit. It was nice to have less stuff and life went on. I decided to be a 2-watch guy and it was cool for a while sporting my DJII for nice night out and my X33 daily shitter. I stopped frequenting the boards after some time and focused on work and family and man the days flew. Last October I was bored so logged into TRF after a long stint and to my HORROR and excitement saw that Rolex had released something I'd wished the Deepsea was...a beefed up Dweller and it looked perfect. I mean guys I totally missed Basel and had no idea the SD50 even existed until 6 months ago. Horrified that I missed out all this time and excited that I was going to be a 3-watch guy from now on. Then I read about the great SS shortage of the last two years or so and thought oh no... So went to my AD and he didn't have one to sell but he had one I could try on. Guys seriously I was blown away - totally stunned by that watch. So left after I got on the wait list that I'm still on to this day to buy it. He wouldn't take a deposit he just said when it's here it's here. I got the feeling he had this conversation once or twice recently :) I thought about it and thought it would have been nice to have picked up one of the first delivered because I know when I get it it will be with me until I leave it to my boy. Having a dated card shortly near May/June would be amazing to me. Serial number doesn't mean anything dating a Rolex time-wise anymore so all you can rely on is paperwork right? Oh well. So after scratching the itch and buying no less than 3 Omegas this winter I had finally found a guy that wanted to flip his SD50 at close to msrp to free up funds for a SS Pepsi after it was announced weeks ago. I had lift off and after all the smoke dissipated from burning a hole in my stack of cash I finally had my RED HOT SD50. I've never had a ftf deal for so many $100 bills for a watch to this day. I still only wore it out once to go to my AD and remove the divers extension. I don't know why I just put it on around the house mostly and I have never done that it's like a part of me thinks it really isn't here or something. This all happened around two weeks ago and in the last few days I decided to take a closer look at the box and warranty bits...June 2017. No too shabby, even though I didn't take initial delivery of it I'm even happier knowing it'll be one of the earliest MK I versions as Rolex inevitably tweaks and changes details on almost all watch dials in time. So there you have it, another RED50 story...except it's mine!
Here's a crappy wrist shot.

Glad you were able to finally pick one up Mario, looks great on your wrist!
I’d advise against taking pictures while driving down the highway though |

Congratulations. My favorite current Rolex. It all works so well, bezel, case size, bracelet, dial, red text and I even like the cyclops.
