You will wind up talking watches with the doc and will have less time to discuss those pesky medical problems.

Went to see my surgeon today, and he walked in wearing a Daytona - so I had a chance to real-time calibrate my response.

Bottom line is - he was so friendly, so attentive, kind, personable, and took all the time to answer all our questions, that the question of "Rolex or not" simply disappeared in the distance.

Now... an arrogant asshole with a Rolex shall remain an arrogant asshole, regardless of his occupation. And wearing a Casio would not help the situation one bit.

I highly doubt you were a far better student and even if you were, it's not just about how smart you are, it's about dedication and perseverance. It's never too late to change professions.

I can assure you the large amount of money being soaked into healthcare is not making its way into physicians' pockets but into the "health care system." When you get a bill from the hospital, look at how much is being paid to the physician versus the hospital - on the order of more than 10x between the two. There are administrators who have no knowledge of medicine who are newly minted MBAs getting paid a similar amount to physicians to help cut costs. Take a look there for your anger.
This was quite a personal retort. Yes, I was a better student than your average med school matriculant. I went to wharton and graduated summa. Anyway, I have no interest in being a doctor, nor do I ever Google anything about my symptoms before I go to a doctor. And succeding at any profession require dedication and perseverance

When I'm rounding on patients in my hospital, they could care less about my watch (usually a Submariner) but it's critically important that they know I care about them. I genuinely do and feel blessed to have the opportunity to help. Hospital gowns have a particular flair for mitigating all concerns about appearances.

Doc here.

I wear one. My wife does too (she is a physician as well).

Then pick a different profession and fill in the blanks. The implication in that drive-by poster's (post count of 1) comment was that everyone who isn't a doctor was either not smart enough, too lazy, or both. Oh, and every patient who encounters a rude doctor must have brought it on themselves.

It's just a rude outlook. Look how mad he got based on one stranger, on an online forum, not giving his profession the respect he thinks it deserves.

Besides, there are plenty of good doctors who went into medicine to help people. It's the bad apples who did it for an upper middle class lifestyle and a sense of superiority

It’s almost as bad as the guy who came into a thread just to post a disparaging remark. And his CV.

On business working with 6 ophthalmologists the last couple of days and not one Rolex was seen. I saw Apple watches and Timex.

Talking about holes in the doctor's office is always a priority.

People do use all sorts of cues to make quick decisions. When I was interning at a law firm, I was able to sit in on settlement negotiations from time to time. One case in particular was memorable for me because the defense lawyer commented that the plaintiff's lawyer was wearing bargain clothes and watch (after he left the room to talk to his client of course), suggesting that he was either too conservative to take his chances at trial or that he needed the fees. This may have been a bit of stagecraft for the client or me, but you never know.

I bought my wife a TT everrose gold Yacht-Master for graduating medical school. She is now a 3rd year resident and wears it pretty much everywhere except for work.

Many of those classes are anything but rigorous. The financial services sector makes up a large part of the economy and is often seen as parasitic as your value added is hard to see in real life, much less imagine in a theoretical way. I am not mad or angry - I find your conceptions amusing.
You've contributed nothing to this forum besides a handful of posts on one thread.

I won't even address your other points (I'm "amusing", financial services are "parasitic", classes at Wharton aren't rigorous, etc.) because it'd be a waste of my life to do so.

As you've revived a months-dormant thread -- for purposes of attack rather than any kind of civil discussion -- I've reported your post and hope it results in a lock
