I have Sub No Date, should I buy Sub Ceramic SS?
I'm interested in Sub Ceramic SS but it's quite similar to my Sub No Date.
Should I buy it? Thanks. |

From a layman's point of view, all Rolex sports models look the same.
But, for the guys (and gals) in here, the answer is 'no'. First, you're getting a date complication, then the ceramic bezel, then the maxi dial, then the sel's, then the clasp, etc... I'd call the closet AD to see if they have one avail for you to try out. Happy Hunting! |

Similar, but quite different. The look of the ceramic is stunning, the maxi dial has serious pop, and the glide-lock bracelet is a thing of beauty.
I have positioned myself to make the move by getting rid of a couple of watches. However, I have some nice watches (as do you with your sub) and I'm going to wait a year for the frenzy to die down.

Only you can decide for sure....
....but I actually just sold both my 14060M and another watch to fund the new Ceramic Sub. To me, Rolex fixed every complaint I had as far as the sub went. The basic black submariner has always been the epitome of what I like in a dive watch. I just couldn't get around that &$#*% 91350 bracelet and the way it fit my wrist. Now that they have done away with the old clasp and hollow links (and added some other cool features: Maxi Dial, Blue Lume, Ceramic, etc), I've quite possibly found my daily wearer that will be with me for a loooong time to come. Now if my AD would just get one in stock...the wait is KILLING me (really, I even find myself dreaming about it at night ).... anyway, good luck with your decision. It'd be nice to be able to keep the classic 14060M and add the ceramic to your collection

Why not do something a little different and go with the GMT-IIc?

Bad question to ask on a Rolex enthusiast forum.....we love spending other people's money!! YES! Buy it!
If it was me, I would sell the 14060M to fund the SubC. A little too similar for me, personally, and no need for both.

Mtrunner said it before me, and I agree....Why not do something a little different and go with the GMT-IIc?
You would add what you want, yet slightly different. |

Here's my humble point of view. I too was very interested in the new Ceramic sub. Keep in mind that I own an M series sub date but I got caught in the hype. I just sold my ceramic GMT yo help with the purchase of the new sub. Anyway, my local AD called last week as said he had the new ceramic sub and I rushed over to purchase it. As soon as I tried it on I immediately noticed that there wasn't much difference in the look between it and my current M series. Yea it has the maxi dial and new bracket and ceramic dial but that's it! I walked away and I didn't look back and it hasn't coheres me not one bit. I'm sticking with my M series. I said all this to say I regret selling my GMT IIc cause I think it's a better buy especially if u already own a sub. Now if I/u didn't already own a sub that's a different story. Humbly submitted.

No, much better options for the money..say an older 16610 and 16710 for less than the price of the new sub. IMHO, wait 6 months and pick one up pre-owned or BNIB from a GMD.

Thank you every reply. I think I'll try it first to see if it's too similar to my Sub No Date.

Seriously, the two watches do not look remotely similar. the only thing they have in common is depth rating and dial color. Even the bezel is not the same shade!

I'm with 'tifosi' I'd sell the non-date and get a ceramic date, which will quickly become the norm!
