I have a 7" wrist (it feels like 6-1/4" honestly) and my cutoff is 40MM.

I love my Bluesy sub but I find it very bulky.

Definitely the largest watch I would ever wear...and it's the 5-digit model.

I couldn't pull off a 6-digit Bluesy.

6.5 wrist for me and i've found 39/40 are my best fit. Love all my AP's 15400 but even the 41 is a stretch for my preference. As of right now my DD40 and any 1165 Daytona are my go to.

Skinny wristed guy here... while I’m, let’s call it 6 1/3, my wrist is very flat which matters. A 40mm maxi is the limit. Daytona and yacht-masters are great. As others have mentioned, lug to lug matters. 50mm lug to lug is the limit before overhang on me.

Smaller wrists guys (6"-6.5") - What is your cut off size?

I have a 6.8” wrist and I wear my 116610LN most of the time, its 40mm and I think it fits good. Sometimes I wear a Seiko SKX007 which is almost 46mm and I think it looks and feels good as well. Larger than that I hacen’t tried yet. Those are pictures of me and my SubC

I think size-wise that’s pretty much bang on.

I find wrist circumference is not as important as wrist width. For me, at 6.5” wrist, 52mm lug to lug is max.

Circumference is for strap size, not watch size.

This! lug-to-lug is the most important measurement

A couple of others which were too large for me. Had to go through a crap load of watches before I figured out what works.

This is an important point. I think both the diameter and the wrist shape are important, but if you have a smaller diameter wrist that is flat, you can make larger watches work. If you have a wrist that isn't flat, the lug to lug is going to be a really important measurement.

Hey Jonzm: I have 7" wrists and wear an OP36 because I like an old-fashioned look. But a no-date sub is the most awesome watch in the world, and I bet it will look great on you!

I have a 6.75in wrist... I've worm watches from 36mm to 45mm... It's more on the lug to lug measurements and overall case shape.

Exactly this. My daily is a Rolex 114060, but I rotate a few different Panerai models, ranging from 42-44mm. The stubby lugs make them wear nicely on my 6.25” wrist.

Yep for me it's Lug to Lug and then Dial size. After that thickness before i start considering diameter.

6.5” here and I’ll wear a 42mm polar and 44mm hamilton khaki though admittedly the 38mm el primero looked and felt the best

I know there's no rule, and I have seen thin guys with massive size watches anyway, but out of curiosity, what is your cut off?
Now I do get that it depends on the lugs, how bulky the watch is, etc. But what is the biggest size you currently own? Or see yourself ever owning?
Personally I plan on buying the Rolex Submariner no date.
A little on the big side with the lugs, and a 40MM Dial, it’s a piece li love.
How about you?

Your wrist size is made for a 40mm case in my opinion. I wish I had it because I prefer a bit oversized watch to a bit undersized one.
The visual rule I follow is that of the lugs covering the top flat surface of my wrist.

My wrist is 6,75 and I find the the 16610 and the ceramic Daytona being the best fit, I have an AP Diver (42mm) that is fine, my PO LE ceramic 2500 is perfect especially on strap, Speedy hesalite is a very good fit, Panerai tried the 1950 case and it was a NO, same with the DSSD and SD43.... SD4K was ok, Exp2 42mm was ok, Batman was ok, DJ41 is good as well

With my small 6.3 wrists; Rolex sports watches nothing over 40mm. Tudor Pelagos fits 42mm ok, some Zenith too at 42mm, Hublot classic fusion fit at 45. Guess it's all down to the lugs.

My wrist measures at 7 1/4”. I can wear a Submariner, but when I tried on a 42mm Speedmaster Pro, I thought it looked a little big for me although lug to lug size is basically same as the Sub.

I’m not sure I’d wear anything bigger than a 41mm.

Also, when I tried on a 40mm IWC Pilot Mark XVIII, I thought that was too big for my wrists too. Lug to lug size is bigger than the sub.

Submariner is perfect for me. This is actually an underwater shot believe it or not.

Those are more of the bad; really for Rolex I'm resigned to Daytonas, OPs, Milgauss, DJs, DDs, and five digit Professional line watches. Basically anything with a smaller footprint. As much as I love the entire line the line doesn't love me. I've finally decided to venture back to Speedmaster territory with a Speedmaster Reduced.
