Which Chronograph + Pilot watch should I buy?

Dear TRF,

I am going to purchase a chronograph and a pilot watch at the end of the year. Which of these combo would you buy? By the way, I currently have Rolex Submariner 116610LV Hulk, Panerai Luminor 10-days GMT, and Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional(1863 sapphire) as shown in my possession.

Combo A: Buy Breitling B01 Navitimer 43

Combo B: Buy IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41

Combo C: Sell the Speedy, and buy both Zenith El Primero and IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII

Combo D: Sell the Speedy, and buy both Tag Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph and IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII

Much appreciated for your thoughts, thanks!

Current collection: 1) Rolex Submariner 116610LV, 2) Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional 311.30.42.30.01.006, 3) Panerai Luminor GMT 10-days PAM533

I like option B or option C... probably B, between the two.

B for me.
That said does the moonwatch not cover your chronograph needs meaning you can get the simpler pilot watch from C? Or even the big pilot 43 version?

B only because I think the navitimer black is more quintessential than blue and I’d add a blue dial for diversity. I don’t think I’d entertain c and d at all here.

Whilst I like a Speedmaster, it would be Option C for me thus having a Zenith

I'd keep what you have got and just add a black dial IWC Mark XVIII or even better a preowned Mark XII or a Mark XV with the pyramid bracelet.

The blue dial Mark XVIII makes it extra obvious that the movement is too small just like the IWC Pilot Chrono 41mm. The polished links on the Pilot Chrono 41mm are just awful. Looks as if they put a Jubilee bracelet on a true tool watch... If you do decide to add an IWC Pilot Chrono I recommend going 3706 with pyramid bracelet or, funds permitting, ceramic 3705.

However you do it, I would add something blue. The Mark VIII is nice.

Option B, probably. Option C if you didn't need to part with the Speedy. Movement-wise, Zenith is the reference in chronographs. Also, I'd pick the IWC Pilot Spitfire instead, as it's available with a manufacture movement.

Agree with this. Will add to keep the El Primero on the wish list.

I like the Chronograph from IWC, B. A very nice watch and it looks good on the bracelet and leather.

Your IWC/Breitling complements each other very well, one is simple looking and another gives off a retro sporty vibe.

Very nice looking combo!

Hi guys,

Reporting back I ended up purchasing the Zenith Pilot Type 20 Chronograph to complement my Omega Moonwatch:

Current collection: 1) Rolex Submariner(116610LV), 2) Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional(311.30.42.30.01.006), 3) Zenith Pilot Type 20 Chronograph Rescue(03.2434.4069/20.I010)

I'm voting B or D. Navitimer is definitely a true pilot watch.

Nope, it was a last-minute decision; I ended up choosing Zenith over IWC.
I prefer the clean and bold look of the Zenith with lume over IWC/Breitling and as well as the El Primero movement inside.

Thank you for your response.
