Why is VC in the holy trinity?
I’d like to know why they are considered part of the holy trinity? I personally don’t understand it.
Thanks |

Because they paid their Holy Trinity Fees and Rolex refused to.

That seems a very vague answer. Do they make more complicated watches than anyone else. Have they done something so amazingly groundbreaking such as invest the first waterproof mechanical watch or the first watch to ‘land on the moon’?

really, you don't understand?!
did you google/read about VC and their watches? Have a look at their “Métiers d’Art Les Masques” collection: http://www.thewatchquote.com/Vachero...09-No_7137.htm Current Métiers d’Art collection: https://www.vacheron-constantin.com/...art.html#tab=0 forget 'bout it!

Vacheron is tops along with Patek, in my opinion. But, I would switch Jaeger in, and Audemars, I mean Royal Oak, out!

RO became the fancier Hublot, no offence to anyone. I would probably put Lange next to VC and Patek nowadays.

I would too! But, I guess the fairly recent (in watch brand history), revival of Lange differs from other brands in the sense that they don't have holes or pauses in their history, so to speak.

The holy trinity has to do with the level of finishing on the watch and grand complications. History plays a huge part as well because Lange from a modern standpoint should oust Vacheron and AP for a spot. Though I've heard people argue that the holy trinity refers to Swiss manufacturers which would knock Lange out of contention. What hurts Vacheron is that they are not independently owned and have had multiple changes in ownership, including an Arab billionaire. They have also not picked up a mainstream celebrity following which hurts their wide appeal. People rap about Patek and AP but Vacheron is a niche of a niche. Both Patek and AP have had recent surges in mainstream popularity due to pop culture. It wasn't that hard to get a 5711 or Jumbo a few years ago. |

They have the "concept" series, minute repeaters, the worlds thinnest perpetual calendar (the RD2) among other grande complications. Just because they have a less diverse design language doesn't mean they are disqualified. They have a history of amazing movements, complications and "firsts" throughout horology. Bulgari currently holds several world records for their "thinnest" movements all made in-house some of which are incredible engineering even beyond what some of the holy trinity have accomplished but no one would say Bulgari is part of the holy trinity, they're very very new to that game. It's not just about a watch case shape. It's about history, contributions to horology and a few other factors like being independent and family owned (AP). |
