Congratulations Pat, you made the right choice. That watch is stunning, is a huge shame to have to let the 50th ROC go but it’s quite the upgrade and you’ll have a better collection; I’ve never seen a 41mm ROC look that small on someone’s wrist!

I’m not an expert but recently found that uploading a photo through the paid for Tapatalk app makes them much larger when viewed on the forum.

Thank you. Not a fun decision to make as I’m sure it’ll hurt my AP relations and quite possibly kill them, but hey, I think it’s worth it for that piece and my actual ability to afford more in that trajectory.
Haha thank you.

Great pick-up, Pat, and mean 3-piece collection.
Big congrats!

I'd do it...it's one of my favorites. Amazing timepiece. Agree with what others said about dumping the ST in favor of the OR.

Congratulations on this strong piece!

I am curious, it doesn’t appear that the prospect of you having to let go of the 50th Anniversary white dial ROC was much of a concern when weighing your options. The same applies to most of the people here advising you. Is having a 50th Anniversary piece not a high priority?

Thank you. The idea of letting a 50th anniversary piece go does bother me and is certainly something I wish I could avoid, but at some point it’s a trade off and I have to choose what matters more; the opportunity to own a 26240OR, or the exact same watch in steel, that was made the year before. I was not really focused on resale, but if I was, the 50th anniversary doesn’t make a big difference over a non anniversary piece. While owning an anniversary piece like this is great, it looks exactly the same as one that isn’t, and for me I am more interested in the look and feel of the OR over the ST than the unique rotor which I rarely see.
Others may have chosen differently. I’m sure some think I should have passed on the OR and simply waited and only done it when I could add a a new piece but I know how long that might have taken, if at all, so I chose differently.

Makes complete sense, and I agree with you. At the end of the day, the only difference in the Anniversary pieces is the rotor. When i think about that, especially relative to a much nicer piece, the rotor doesn’t mean much at all.
I also agree, a bird in hand is worth more than a bird that may never be presented in the future again.

This was a really big part of my decision making.

So for fun I reached out to the local boutique to see what a leather or rubber strap would cost for the 26250OR, along with the deployant clasp.
Well, here was the response:

The plots needed to attach the strap to the watch are $344/e + tax and you need 4 so the set is $1,376 + tax and there is no pin buckle option for his watch only deployant and that buckle is $5,420+tax. So, your total for the plots and buckle would be $6,796+tax and then you add straps as you like.
Leather straps are $603+tax and rubber straps are $458+tax.

So…. Yeah, I probably should have guessed as much, but a rubber strap for this would cost $7400+ tax…
Which is equivalent to an OP Rolex… so I’ll have to pass on that for a while!
Just thought I’d share it in case people were looking at going that route in the future.

I’m curious if the Boutique in Tokyo would sell it to me, and whether they would ship it to the US, or if I’d have to ship it to someone I knew in Japan and have them mail it to me. Still probably 20% cheaper to go that route.
