I was thinking the same exact thing.

I have no reservations about wearing my newer Rolex watches to the beach at all. Same applies to pool time.

However, once I'm done at the beach (or pool) I do make a point to rinse my watch at a sink (just to make sure any sand particles or pool water chemicals are washed away).

I leave mine back in the condo along with my wedding band. Not a fan of jewelry on the beach or bright white tan lines on my wrist.

I would wear it but i do have a seiko for the dirty jobs . It’s a tough one but we live once enjoy that beautiful watch !!

For me I buy watches to wear and a Dweller is perfectly at home on a beech and in the sea. If you are wanting to protect it a bit maybe take a few NATOs or invest in NATOs plus a Rubber to protect the bracelet. I’ve always worn my Sub on the beech and just make sure I rinse in tap water after to clean

Easy. I do it often. My wife has several grand Seikos that are much nicer and better and extremely accurate compared to Rolex. In fact she’s often complimented on them.

To answer OP’s question. Depends on what you’re doing at the beach. If you’re strictly sunbathing, drinking, lazing, by all means wear the watch. If the extent of your activity is going for a dip, wear the watch. Anything beyond that I don’t even bother with a watch as it’s inconvenient (i.e. surfing, volleyball, skating). I personally don’t use a “beater” but you may want to keep your watch pristine, in which case by all means pick one up.

I have changed my practices lately; no Rolex on the beach or on vacations where there are questions about safety. I wear my good watches 95% of the time, why take the chance to scratch it or get killed over it. I wear cheap watches to ride my bike (not really that cheap), cut the grass, vacation in the Caribbean (except cruising), and go on EMT calls. The rest is all Rolex and Patek time.

You only live once, enjoy your watch. I agree with the comment about checking the bracelet if you are snorkeling in the deep. I used my Sd40 the whole summer last year. May friend’s son even rubbed some sand on it. Not a single scratch. It’s a very robust watch.

I prefer to wear my Seiko on the beach just because it's more of a diver than my GMT...

That said, I wouldn't hesitate to wear my Rolex if I felt like it on any given day
