Beater for the beach or put the rolex to use?

Howdy guys!

I have a minty 16600 sea dweller and I am curious on if I need a beater seiko for the beach (in order to keep my dweller minty).

What do you guys do? Beater for the beach or rolex it up?

I have a SD43, it’s my only Rolex and I wear it every time I’m going to the beach. I wash it with fresh water after I’m done and don’t worry about it.

Personally, I find no need for a watch at the beach. Let alone a Rolex. If I am on vacation and will be out all day with no phone, gshock it is. Probably an unpopular opinion as many say Rolex meant to be worn, but for me, it is just more comfortable to leave watch home when I am sweating with sun beating down on me in salt water, tanning, etc... even Seiko (depending on which) is not comfortable. Get a cheap gshock or something.

"Minty"?

Why did you buy a watch that you do not want to use?

I wear my watches, no reason to own them if you do not.

I don’t get the whole “beach watch” concept other than it being water proof.

Do you plan on grinding it in the sand? Otherwise it will be fine.

I have the 16600 SD in same condition and wear it anywhere my wrist goes. Beach is fine. I am not a surfer but do wear it in the occasions we play in the water.

Pretend your 95 years old and your looking back over your life...

Do you want to use the heck out of it or just keep it nice for someone else??

Few more posts like this and Rolex is gonna take the assumption and just start removing water resistance from their watches.

My GMT Master II has seen a lot of beach time. Camping, hiking, lots of other outdoors stuff. If it couldn't take it I wouldn't own it.
