1655. Alas, it's not to be, with or without service parts.

After I looked up this 1680 gold reference for another thread, I must say this would probably be it. Even more specific I would take @ryan5446's gold with purple dial 1680. Beautiful… But here's a pic of the other.

military spec omega seamaster 300. very short production run before the milsub existed (68 to 1970), rolex milsub has DNA taken directly from the omega military sm300. Not easily obtainable even if you have the money. More scarce than a rolex milsub and not many survivors. Not my picture but a lovely example I thought I would share.

Ever since I saw this photo of swish77’s 6263 it’s all I can think about when it comes to the one vintage piece I want.

I’m a student, so all of them
With luck, I’ll be able to afford a fair number of the vintage/five digit Rolexes I like, but (barring a really big price correction) I suspect vintage Daytonas (particularly Paul Newman’s), Comex Subs/Seadwellers, and Mil-Subs will always be out of reach. Also quirky stuff like Panama Canal Subs, prototype dial Daytonas, and so on... A first world problem, and I’m already lucky to have my 90s 16610! |

Any of the very early 'sports' models from the fifties would do me - Submariner 6200, Milgauss 6541, GMT 6542...I'm not picky. These watches must have seemed like they were from another planet back then and are just timeless designs.

Salmon-dial 1802/6, 1675/8 nipple dial. Of the two I'm more likely to end up with something platinum eventually, even if at this point about the closest thing I can see that's vaguely achieveable is something like an 18026 or get a little fancier with 18206. I think I bought all the affordables (ha) I wanted already!

1803 Stella w/ a pink or yellow dial.
A Lapis or Onyx dial submariner. A 6263 big red. All have passed me by and could have been had reasonably at one point. One that was never reasonable or available (to me) would be a 5517 OR a Vietnam era Rolex w/military provenance and a nice story behind it.

Yep, that’s mine as well. Now near 6 figures, probably not happening. I could buy a model 3 performance and both Daytona’s. High priced vintage is not for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Either a 6238 pre-Daytona chronograph or a birth year (1975) red Sub for me.

The watches worn by both on the summit were made by Smiths. Excellent scholarship after the link: https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...n-53-The-proof |

It seems really stagnant compared to sport Rolex. It's a scary market as well given the fakes out there.
