My first Rolex and I am confused
Hi, I am looking forward to buy my first Rolex. Of course, I am no expert in Rolex and I am hoping that someone here can help me.
I am a male 177cm (5'10") tall with small wrists (6,0-6,1 inches). I am now torn between Rolex Explorer I 39mm (214270) and 116300 41mm. I am a little worried that 41mm may be too big, but then it looks so irresistible! Please help me! |

Yes, thank you. I have tried the 116300, but not the 214270.
Btw, the store that I went to has 116300 with roman numerals and blue dial. Does Rolex release slightly different 116300? I am just hoping for more people to help me here, your help is very much appreciated. |

I believe the Explorer 214270 will suit you best! Looking at pictures is OK, but you should go and try it on if you are uncertain. |

@Tardis
Thank you! I have a question, does Rolex release slightly different 116300? I saw two 116300 with blue dial, one of them was using sticks and the other roman numerals. I am used to a 40mm watch with black bezel, and it suits me well despite my small wrist. I think it is unnecessary to think that 41mm is too big. Am I correct? |

The 11630 has both Roman & Arabic numbers. The older model has indices (sticks). You are correct that 41mm is not a big size for you. You must try each model for your size before you buy. |

You can wear whatever size you feel most comfortable with.
If you want to rock a 44mm PAM, then go do it. If you want to stick to a 34mm Air King, it's all good. |

+1 I wore a 44mm Breitling for a couple years before switching to a 34mm Rolex. I've got 7.25 inch wrists and am 5' 11''. It's just what you care to wear.

Thank you for the reviews!! As for the resale value, which rolex has the best resale value? I'm talking about steel-only rolex.

it all depends on what (clothes you wear with it), where, and when you want to wear it. i think you should get them both, but if......... i think 41 should fit you well, don't worry about it's too big for you. But if you have chance and time, go to try them on your wrist several times before you make a decision.

I have very small wrists (even though I am 6'2"). I took a chance with the 39mm Explorer, and I have to say it is becoming my daily wearer. I really love the style, weight etc. it is running quite accurately as well!

Larger watch faces are in fashion, but I wouldn't necessarily go over 41mm given your wrist profile.

I'd guess the Sub and perhaps the GMT. There are a ton of them out there but here are also a ton of people who want one. I'd guess the Daytona also, especially since it seems to be in short supply right now in places. I'm no expert though so I defer to those more knowledgeable (and there are a ton of those too, lol!).

I want to add...I'm 5'6" with 6.5" wrists.
I have a small 36mm Datejust and a bigger 40mm SubC. I think a 41mm would be fine for you since you're taller than me. Body build and height matters too IMO, not just your wrist size. |

I've been there, like the Explorer, the Milgauss and the DJII.
Try them on and make up your mind, I once bought the Milgauss and later sold it, now I own the DJII. Maybe in the future I'll own the Explorer!

Like others have said, you have to go and try them all on. No matter what we tell you it is all going to depend on what feels the best and you like the best on YOUR arm.
Plus, trying on numerous watches and picking out your favorite is a lot of the fun when buying your first. Make it a special accasion as you can only buy your FIRST rolex once. Good luck!

Regardless of the size, one might look better on your wrist than the other. Have to try them both on. Personally I love the new DJ II, but it is what feels and looks the best on your own wrist.

I'm 5'11" with 6.75" wrists - I am partial to my 36mm TOG - it is perfectly proportioned IMHO. At the end of the day, try them both and go with what you like best!

Try 'em on. I'm with Homathetes. I used to think larger watches were cool then I got a Todor OD and it all changed.

As some of the others said. Trying them on and getting opinions from us by taking pics should clear this up quite a bit. Although we can tell you which one looks more fitting, it will be up to you in the end on which one you should choose. Remember it's all you here in the end. So if you love the 41mm then go for it. In the end 2mm can't be that big of a diff on a 6 inch wrist.
Good luck!
