Oyster Speedking
Tried posting an earlier message under "Vintage" but that message for some reason got posted before it was complete, and now can't be edited; so, here I am with what I hope is the complete message.
Recently inherited a Rolex Oyster Speedking, which I'm told is 50-60 years old, and probably so knowing whom it was owned by previously. I'm attaching a photo of this watch in hopes of dating it accurately; and, how much value to submit for insurance purposes. Appreciate any assistance, I'd take it to a Rolex dealer but the nearest one is several hours away... |

most likely you have a model 4220 Speedking. Looks like you have the correct crown, that's good. Looks like you have correct hands, that's also good. Looks like the dial has been refinished, that's bad. As far as the value, I would guess between $500 and $800, depending on condition of the case (any corrosion?), how clear/visible the numbers are, does it need service?...

Looks like a 4220 to me. Mid 1940s/Late WW2. Hands appear original. Dial looks like a repaint though sadly. Value? Around $575

Rolex Oyster Speedking
I also inherited a watch from approximately 1945. The dial indicates it is a Rolex Oyster Speedking. There is a number below the 6 on the dial located on the side of the case stamped 333303. I don't know how to tell if it is authentic or not. I have attached a picture. I am getting different responses when I have asked around. I appreciate any input or advice. Thank you.
