The worlds toughest watch ?
I'm impressed with the new Victorinox INOX watch. It has undergone 130 gruelling tests including:

Nice simplistic design. Sounds like they test the hell out of it too. Nice snag, Nathan!

Cool testing methods! Sounds like it can take a beating? Nice clean look too. Seems like a perfect beater!

Cool! I just wonder if the wearer would live through those tests.

I'm skeptical, if this watch is made from 316L stainless steel, just how is it going to be more rugged then any other Quartz 316L watch on the market?
I have a feeling many other quartz watches could go through the same tests with flying colors. Take the rubber bumper off the Inox and drop it on the concrete and see how well it ends up, put the watch on some concrete (instead of loose sandy ground) and then have the truck and bulldozer run over it. I'm sure it would be in pieces. Try smearing some sunblock on it and see if it screws up the finish. Maybe I'm wrong, but so far the commercials for it look like typical infomercials where the product never ends up being a good as they are touted. If it is made from some different kind of steel, I maybe interested, buy I doubt that it is. |

I liked the 8 ton pressure test.
I see the Ronda 715 movements selling for $30.00 - is this be the same movement in the Victorinox.

Probably is but it's only Ł330 GBP. I admit I'd rather have a Breitling calibre 74 thermocompensated quartz movement in it and the winged "B" on the dial too but that would add another Ł2000GBP to the price.

I am Seriously considering this watch as I find it very functional and yet traditionally designed...Perfect...and while I don't know what other technical engineering ensures those staggering sturdiness figures,I do know that the dial does not have applied markers but rather that the design is a single plate with engraved/etched raised markers and the hand's attachments are also much much more reinforced than a normal regular watches.. it was found in many knock and shock tests that dial elements and hands are the first to give way in a shock test, while case and movement actually normally give way in stress tests ...I also read that the steel in this model is reinforced still, but I don't know with what and what grade...I am quiet impressed and highly interested in This cool watch..thanks for sharing.

But this is cheaper to replace in case you do destroyed it :)
http://app.thewatchmagazine.com/March2012?page=47 nonetheless, I like the INOX and may pick one up in the future. it would be weird if I keep taking it off my wrist and asking people, "drive your car over it, it will survive!" haha

'Lume's not too bad also the contrast between the hands and dial make it very readable in dim light.

I can't help it, I have to get one and try it.
The brushed finish on the case is nice and even. Nice contrast on the "seamaster bezel" with the polished edge. Its built and felt like a tank. The case back is flat and the watch stay flat on your wrist. It wears like a large 42mm or a small 43mm watch. The crown is smooth and easy to use. The lume seems to be standard C1 SL. Its there, but it will take some charging to glow decent. Its visible in the dark after 4 hours with dark adjusted eyes, but not in the same league as Seiko divers. It *looks* like they put an AR coating on the inside of the crystal. I think the watch will go nicely with a thick leather strap. It wished for: - C3 SL lume - white on black date wheel - drilled lugs for easy strap change

Another thing I wished for is a more conventional 22mm lug size. The INOX has a 21mm lug size and I don't like to squeeze 22mm straps into 21mm lugs.
Here's a lume shot as well. Its not great, but its there.

I've been thinking about getting one as a work watch. Looks good. Plus, it's endorsed by Mike and Mike.
