Submariner is the wife, GMT is the concubine.
One has to be boring, reliable, "dull", faithful.
The other has to be playful, fancy...etc.
You know what I mean.

At the end, mankind are complicated hypocrites.

Sir, this may be the best answer yet. Hats off to you

I always find it strange how many more people have Subs than the GMT as there are probably less people who dive seriously than those who travel a lot.

I love the GMT (because I travel a lot), but will probably someday get the Sub (ND) just to have one...

I think it’s just being scrutinized in light of Rolex’s recent releases (emoji, celebration dial, Le Mans, etc.). Relative to all of that, this is certainly rather “sober.”

If this watch was released in 2010, everyone would be foaming at the mouth for one.

Most people are happy with one Rolex. Not all of those people want bright colors on that one Rolex. Rolex knows this. The GMT line now has that option back on the table.

Marketing VP: “Good god, that’s incredible… Young man, what’s your name?!?!”

I've owned BLRO, BLNR and CHNR--the only one that stuck is the all-time classic BLRO. No other bezel interests me in the least.

Well, if you buy a watch for the colour of the bezel your statement may stand.

However the Sub is a different watch to the GMT. So no, your statement is incorrect and divisive, of course IMO

I don't do flashy, I know what day it is, and if I am 6 time zones away I can do that math in my head. I also think it's way past time to link diving with Sub ownership any more than cowboy hats are tied to cattle ranching.

Eventually a Coke will be released. But it could be 10 to 50 years from now.

Yep. Then we'll have 15 years worth of "I was right all along". There may not be enough bandwidth!

It's certainly a boring release.

Rolex is in a unique position among top companies where they don't have to innovate often as they're miles above the competition. They don't seem too concerned with the likes of Omega, GS, etc.

It depends on how I'm dressed and what I plan to do. And I do have other watches. I'm just pointing out that having one in every color of the rainbow doesn't appeal to me.

When you have one box so satisfyingly checked, it's not hypocrisy to ask for another box.

GMT should have bi coloured bezel. Always. GRNR looks pretty much all black in most lights. It’s a lazy release when they could’ve done a coke. But we now know they have left that to Tudor to boost interest in that. Fair enough.

I LOVE the gray. If they got rid of those big lugs and trimmed it a bit I would be on the list...but I just cant get over the "bar of soap" look of these and the Subs. The 5 digits have the PERFECT proportions IMHO

Not hypocrisy, the originals were the originals and were/are fantastic. This new one is not one of them. It is not the same.

I actually like the new GMT, better than the loud color Blue & Red..

GRNR for the win.
