What would be a perfect Pam for me?

I would like size to be 44mm and Luminor style.

What do you guys recommend? I want the most popular model and is having a hard time deciding.

What are you guys' recommendation in

1. ETA-based PAM
&
2. In house movement-based PAM

I just joined the PAM club, having recently purchased a 164 which has the OP III Valjoux movement, and a 351 with the P9000 in-house movement. I like both a lot, for different reasons.

My next PAM will likely be a 000, 005, 111 or 112. IIRC all of these are ETA or Valjoux movements. I just need to decide if I want a painted or sandwich dial, and whether or not I need the second hand. That, and the funds, of course.

The Boutique Editions have the perfect balance of Panerai DNA, a fantastic look along with a very reasonable price tag..........below is my 416. Other great choices would be as other members have listed above......000, 005, 111, 112, 164

Off the top of my head, I don't think any of the Luminors (i.e., non-1950 cases) come with in-house movements. Not that that's a bad thing, as the ETA movements PAM uses are top quality and very reliable with a strong track record.

So, the most popular Luminors? Probably the zero and 111, but there are many, many great options if you are willing to go beyond the most "popular".

There are soooooo many factors to consider my friend. With a few years under my belt now being a watch enthusiast, I think in simple terms:
- go with what you really truly like in terms of looks/comfort/practicality.

The "other" factors like resale value, inhouse/non-inhouse etc etc, I think is "secondary" to the above. The bottom line is you don't want to buy something and then have regrets. And if you really love the look of the watch - ie. ppl say, its "sings to you" then in all likelihood you can't go wrong.

If you like Luminors, and you are still on the fence with which model to chose, then I say, go with 111. It has the many good "qualities", and I don't think I've seen anyone regret buying that model.

My only complaint is the ETA based movement. How well modified is it? Many of my WIS friends claim that Panerai is charging way too much money for a ETA based watch.

This my current struggle with purchasing my first Pam. I think the dial's are so simple and classic which I like. I don't worry about the 44mm, I can get used to the size. On the used market the 176 goes for 4K. Its hard for me to justify the money for a ETA movement. But the watch looks so nice hahahaha

The PAM 00005 is a great one from my viewpoint: the movement is solid and accurate; the design is classical; very nice watch for the price. Do one's really need a manufacture caliber in a Panerai? I'm not sure. Another good point for the 00005 is the fact that it fits with lot of different straps: rubber, leather, various colors such as black, dark brown, Etc. And therefore can be worn in different situations at work or during the WE.
