5 vs 312
is it really worth adding $$$ for having a 1950 case, automatic and clear glass for the pam 312 vs the pam 5?
or are there more reasons to choose the 312 over the 5? |

oh...and you get a date with it...
Panerai has always charged a premium for Auto and in-house... only you can answer if its worth it... buy what sings to ya...

For my money, it would be a 5 or 111.

312 is a much more useful watch, kinda like a Rolex Sub.
If I get tired of the Sub, I might look into the 312 or 270. |

If price doesn't matter I'd go 312 all the way. This piece has been compared to Panerai's flagship model, the 233, on many occasions. Pretty flattering considering it's about half the price.

My previous Luminor was a 5'er and I traded that away and recently got a 312. So far I'd say it's worth the premium. They are two totally different watches though despite both wearing the crown guard. The think most of the premium over the 5 stems from the in-house movement and completely difference case.

If I were you, I will go for 312. Good luck whatever you choose.

312 is nice w/ a clear back & date w/ no cyclops. keep in mind its a brushed stainless & gives it a different look.
