Going down to one

I've only really been into watches seriously for the past few years. In that amount of time I've managed to own (and then sell) some good stuff, at varying price points. But because I'm a minimalist guy, and always felt strangely weird about having perfectly good watches just sitting around, and because I want utility from my material possessions, the time has come to go down to one watch (which is really how it was for me for years before I "got serious"). To my surprise, it's going to be my Omega Speedmaster 3594.50, though it's bigger than the 37-39mm size I thought I preferred.

Great looks, exceptional accuracy (recently serviced), comfy bracelet (finally got it adjusted just right), fabulous heritage, and all the other things that y'all already know. Setting a reasonable goal of going solo with it for just one year and then reevaluating.

Here's an obligatory [noisy iPhone] pic that I rather like, to give this post a little more context (it doesn't look as huge on me in real life as it does here).

I remember Ben Clymer in a video at one point saying something to the extent of "If you buy a Speedmaster as your first nice watch, you'll find that you don't need any others." I'm finding that to be accurate, even if it wasn't my first nice watch, though it is both my first Omega and my first Speedmaster.

Enjoy it, that's a great reference. I find my speedy gets about 80% of the wrist time in a 4 watch rotation.

Very nice. I have though about on nice watch and a group of Seiko and Casio watches for beaters but I am not there yet. Keep us posted on how it goes in the coming year.

Can't blame you there. It's a great piece. Enjoy the ride.
