This just in from the word usage police...
Stun and amaze your friends with your ability to use the correct words in your texts, well that is, until autocorrect screws it up....
https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/com...words-37355276 There will be no quiz afterward.....or is it afterwards...whatever.

I truly do love nerding-out over linguistics & etymology.

I still haven’t adapted to the goobered up English grammar that prefers using the word “myself” instead of the word “me”.
For example, instead of saying “send the watch to me”, the new and cool version is “send the watch to myself”. Who came up with this bastardized abuse of proper grammar? End of rant. |

Well done.
You can't blame autocorrect for stupidity and laziness. I think it was Foster Brooks who played a loveable drunk who often used the wrong words. That was some good stuff. Yeah, I'm dating myself here.

I like penultimate - it means "let chaos reign" where I spend my weekends...especially "in the rain"...

I know. When I read it I was expecting the nurse to show up and ask me to fill a little bottle.

I worked for a couple of years as a professional proofreader, and it has tainted my mind ever since. To this day, I can’t pass by a food truck offering “pastry’s” or the like without a small shudder.
BTW - Hodinkee isn’t great in this regard, but Perezcope seriously needs a proofreader - Jose*, if you see this, I’d be happy to proof for you gratis, as a small contribution to your public service. Just send me a PM … (* - I automatically typed José, but apparently he doesn’t use the accent?) |
