To be fair, I am not a big fan of the black GMT. GMT should be bicolor, they only did it in all black because they did not know then how to do bi color ceramic.
I second what the others say: the President is all about condition.
In other words, if you want a President and there is one watch you want to trade for it, I would trade the black GMT.

It looks too much like my Sub and SD. I rarely use the GMT feature.

Years ago when it first came out back in the day, I didn’t have the bucks to buy it. Now I do....I think it is a classic style design and the barked elements of the watch are so unique!

And the decades of non-ceramic black bezel GMT's??????????????

Nonsense.

Not the answer to your question, but you want both. They make a perfect pair. Sports/dress, SS/gold, silver/yellow, large/small, daily/special, modern/vintage, GMT/weekday, dark dial/light dial, oyster/president. My buddy has this exact DD with the bark finish it is an awesome piece.

Uh, let's see here:
1990 - 2000 = 10 years
2000 - 2010 = 10 years
2010 - 2019 = 9 years

Grand total = 29 years!

I cannot believe I committed such a mathematical error! I've never been good at math using the base 10 system. Once I started to use base 12, or 24, I never really looked back.

Sorry folks, hope my STUPID post didn't cause confusion. Confusion seems to be my specialty.

Thanks for catching it Nimble Bee!

They made the black GMT for decades alongside the red&blue/red &black.

Oh, and No trade for me as they feel as if they are meeting as one goes up while one goes down.

Love both watches though.

I bought my ND sub in Feb, slightly used. There was a 116710ln there, lower price. Discontinued the next month. Suddenly the ln is trading for 1500 more.

I liked the gmt ln but I agree, a gmt should be two tone so I don’t regret my decision.

Must say I do like the discontinued TT ln gmt. Was somewhat of a bargain used but I dare say that’s rocketed as well lately.

Pass. I love the gold President, but it wouldn’t get much wrist time. The 116710 can be worn everywhere.

To me it is like Porsches, unless you want vintage, buy the newest model you can afford.

Are you sure about that? Rolex offered a black insert option for many years 16710LN prior to the 116710LN.

As for OP no way I trade for that DD.

Quite a difference in watches. I'm a GMT man. But an all gold day-date is a f--k off watch. Sends a message to others that you're a "heavyweight". And nowadays, thanks to celebrities wearing them with t-shirts & jeans, it's fashionable to wear all gold watches any time you desire. I wouldn't wear it every day, but maybe that works for you and that's fine.

I wore a bark 18248 everyday of the week for 3 years as a truck driver wore it 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Still Looked brand new when I sold it last week. Bark doesn’t show scratches like a polished surface does. And it maintains its look just make sure the bezel and center links aren’t polished or over polished.

I'd never get rid of that Gmt. It's a perfect 'one' watch to keep.

It will be a good deal if you really like and intend to wear it.
