I find that my Sub flys under the radar quite a bit. I have only had one person ask me about my watch.

If you cannot, perhaps wearing a Rolex will make your life unhappy instead of bringing you happiness which is what a nice timepiece should do.
Mid 30s and yes. And yes I do feel the need to get over the watch attention paranoia (me posting this question for your opinions, experiences and support was part of my process I assume!). I took a big step last night and feel I'm going to be just fine

Wearing the most recognisable expensive watch in the world is not flying under the radar. You want that while wering something of quality go Grand Seiko.

You want a Rolex, a side effect is you will blip on peoples' radar, positive or negatively.

If "flies under the radar" means, "nobody has asked me about it," then my TT DJ with a champagne dial and diamond markers qualifies.

Just because no one says anything doesn't mean that they haven't seen your sub or made their first impression judgments about you already.

I said no one notices your watch, unless they are into watches. You just described a scenario where people are definitely into watches - certain highly competitive professional environments.

I think you are helping my point.

For all the people who say that no one notices their watches, I’m wondering how you know that. I notice people’s watches all the time, but I do it discreetly and I guarantee you, 99% of the time they have no idea that I noticed.

Actually, it shows up on radar as a B52. Not exactly a stealth bomber. Do you really care? Buy it, wear it, who gives a damn.

Yup pretty much I agree.

Although for the ND the fact that it still has the supercase, ceramic bezel, and maxi dial - are fairly significant and noticeable upgrades than most other watches especially in the 40mm (non-Panerai) size range.

Yes it does. Although small, the cyclops is vissible. The no date is just a little bit less vissible, at least I think so.

Because everywhere I go people have their noses buried in their smartphones. Walmart, restaurants, you name it. Do you think there are hundreds of people waiting to rob me of the YG Sub on my wrist? Oh my!

I will never understand the whole “under the radar” thing.

If this is a concern, why did you buy the watch to begin with? Go get an Apple Watch or use your phone.

FWIW, my I wear my YG Sub with blue starburst dial almost every day. In the last year a total of one person has noticed and he was a watch guy.

Because it is possible for the same person to have competing interests. I don't think any human is 100% consistent! Your suggestion to resolve the conflict (an Apple watch) would be my nightmare. I'd much rather figure out a way to wear the watch I love but conquer the concern about noticeability. This thread has helped me with that.

I have no inhibitions about noticeability and no fear of anything else.

Because we're not normal... we're abnormal. We have a watch addiction problem... that's why we look at watches ... that's why you look at watches...

WE ARE NOT THE NORM.

Normal people don't give a single care to what watch you're wearing... one day they'll accidentally come across the fact you're wearing a Rolex and maybe ask you... but it'll be purely accidental.
Or it will be deliberate in the sense that they want to check you out for wealth... but this not common place, they too would be abnormal in that situation.

Conversely, we (WIS) actively look for watches... it is our "hobby". Our collection, our whatever...
But even then for myself... I often get bored at looking at sea of crappy fashion watches... and apple watches... that I sometimes miss a real gem.... I said in an earlier post I was sat next to a guy with an Omega Seamaster on and it took me over 10 mins to realise it... and I love watches. I love Omega's too!

I've been working with the same group of people for almost ten years. If one of my co-workers picked up on the fact I was wearing a Rolex, they'd IMMEDIATELY start with the comments. Trust me. We're a bunch of non-educated schmucks.

Based on the amount of attention my watches receive in Oz we have no radar here.

It's a very replicated watch. Most people don't know enough to tell the difference between rolex and (insert homage watch here). The rest don't care

IMO yes. Some will notice it’s a Rolex but 90% of people won’t give a damn. Watch forums are not the real world. It is probably the most common luxury watch I see in the wild and usually most I see are the 5 digit ones.

Many people worry about theft also and ask over and over. Unless it is yellow and shiny you will not attract that kind of attention. A regular 14kt Cuban link gold chain is more likely to be targeted than a platinum Daytona.

So many watches have the black on black dial/bezel look, i think it just blends in with the crowd. no one has ever said anything about my no-date, so maybe it does fly under...
