Don't like the look of the modern air king, and would rather buy new than used so I'd pass on the used milgaus as well and go for the OP39 (white dial or blue dial both gorgeous).

Difficult decision, if you're not a fan of the 39mm OP then I would say Milgauss - they are just so unique and have something charming about them.

I'd go Milgauss...GV... just because it's so different from everything else.

The Omega AT 15k gauss looks plan in comparison...

On a RubberB, I think the AK will look better.

But, I prefer the GV, otherwise.

Air-King for me, easily. Didn’t think I’d ever say that, then I saw it in the metal. It really somehow works.

Milgauss. This AK ref is like an incoherent postmodern building displaying many different styles and no thematic unity.

I just went through a similar decision-making process. I was not previously interested in Rolex until the AK came out in 2016! My Grandfather and Uncle were Rolex wearers and they just didn't turn me on at a younger age. I went through TAG, Breitling, and eventually Omega but when the AK came out, I said now I will buy a Rolex.

But I digress, This week I checked out the OP 39mm, and the AK, I just found the AK in person has a very unique style and definitely isn't a "me too" watch. I have never saw another in the wild on a wrist. You can purchase for 2k less than a Milgauss, the main difference is which one lights your fire when on the wrist? The Milguass is going to have more bling with the additional polished surfaces, so if you are looking for that then the choice is easy. I am not a fan of rubber straps and don't really think the Milguass would flow on rubber?

Good luck, get the one that speaks to you! Part of the fun for me of owning an AK is I know the purists don't like it! But that is what drew me in!

I wouldn’t listen to anyone else’s opinion. It’s the same movement with same functions (time only) so it comes down to aesthetics and how it feels on your wrist. Personally I prefer the MIlgauss GV (have come close to buying) but don’t own either.

Welcome to the forum. Tough call as they are both really cool watches. I suspect long term the Milgauss will be a more valuable watch, but they should both hold up well. They are both funky and I personally love them both. I would be very happy with either one, but if pressed I'd lean toward the Milgauss assuming you are ok with polished center links. I personally think it gives it a very high end look relative to its price. I also happen to LOVE the lighting bolt second hand.

Having said that, the Air-King might work better as a one and only as black face with a brushed steel bracelet works with everything. Even though the Air-King is funky in blown up pictures, I don't find it to be as funky on the wrist.

Good luck with whichever you choose. You can't go wrong either way!

Had I read all the posts first I could have saved time and said I completely agree with Ronald. Well said.

Personally I never like Rolex models on rubber straps, but whatever blows your dress up as they say.

I’d probably go white Milgauss, then Air-King, then black Milgauss but if possible I’d try them on first. This is getting pretty hard to do. I saw an Air-King at Moody’s in Tulsa this week. I ended up passing.

I owned a Milgauss before, and If I had to choose, I would take the Milgauss over the Air-King.

here is a picture of my old Milgauss.

You have to try them both on. I thought I wouldn’t like the AK. Then tried it on in italy. I fell in love with tt and snapped it up!
