Trading Hulk for SD43
As the title says, it's pretty straightforward: Hulk + minimal cash for SD43.
My wrist is a bit larger, as I frequent an Explorer II (42mm) comfortably. Having trouble making the decision if I want to part with the Hulk - the pro's being future value and the beautiful green, the con's being it's certainly not an everyday wear. I realize that there are a ton of Hulk fans here, so I hope this isn't too blasphemous. Thanks all! |

I would do it in a heartbeat. The green never did it for me but the matte black of the SD43 is so awesome and its fit us bigger wrist guys so well.

Once upon a time I thought my hulk was too green and I sold it away when I bought my 5712. And then I woke up and realized it’s a watch that I couldn’t live without. So she’s back. And she ain’t going anywhere. So my gut says to hold on tight. Add the SD43 if you must but keep that hulk!

The SD43 is more versatile perhaps but the Hulk is more collectible. That said Hulk prices are high and who knows what will happen in a couple of years from now. Not a bad idea to take advantage of the inflated Hulk price to swap it for the SD.

It’s not a bad trade idea if you want a larger watch. Why isn’t your Hulk a everyday watch?
Giving up one of the best sunburst dials for a flat black dial is a major conservative move. Would you get bored of it since you have other black watches? Everyone can make a great black watch but the LVC is in its own league of individuality across any of the premium brands. Thats kinda a big deal. If I were looking for a bigger watch, the DSSD JC would appeal to a Hulk owner more. IMO. I love big black watches and own some great ones from Panerai, Breitling, etc... but none of those companies has a watch as classic yet so spectacularly different from the herd as the Rolex Sub LVc.

This is the problem with buying green watches. I think most if not all people who have bought a hulk eventually face this dilemma after the honeymoon period.

That’s why it’s important to have other watches that are more versatile. Will I wear the Hulk daily? No, but I will wear it when the mood strikes. Can’t wear them all everyday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd do that trade in an instant. After almost a year, I still love my SD43.

Which watch do you believe will retain its current market value over the long run? I don’t mean that from the perspective of flipping, but rather which one will be easier to acquire in the years to come...

No one knows what the future holds, who knows the SD43 might become a super collectible and you will regret not trading the hulk for it now. But of course, no one knows what's going to happen so my point is just get what you like more.
However, I would not make any trades until I have tried on the SD43 first. It may seem like the perfect watch until you actually get to hold it and try it on. And once you trade away the Hulk, you probably won't see it again unless you pay a lot to get it back. But unless the Hulk is your only watch, I would not get rid of it.

I’d keep the hulk, you won’t see pricing go nuts on the SD43 as you have on the LV, not that it’s all about price. But if you can sport a 42, you can sport a 43

Tough one ... I’ve never owned the LVC, but I do own the SD43 and at the moment it’s my favorite Rolex.

Trading Hulk for SD43
I learned a lesson selling the LV. I paid grey price for one and then sold because it didn’t live up to the impossible expectations I put on it. I regretted it immensely literally one day after selling and was really down about it. One day later (I couldn’t make this up) my AD called and said they had an LV in with my name on it. That was the Rolex Gods giving me mulligan and now I appreciate it more than ever.

Don’t sell the hulk, one of my all time favorites. Sd43 despite very beautiful, is a large and heavy watch. Hulk size is the optimum. Ideally you should have both

Keep the HLK, its not my daily daily wearer, but its close.
Its simply very unique and individual, and you will not find a piece like this in any line.

I have an LV as well . . . Considering a change as well.
I actually considered this exact swap . .. Or a 216570 (looking for the 42mm size). |

The LV has a beautiful dial but it just doesn’t work for me. And those lugs. I can’t get past them on the SS Sub. Tha SD43 also has a beautiful, ever changing dial, and is much better proportioned provided you are comfortable with the extra thickness. It’s arguably more versatile too.

Whatever decision you make, you can't go wrong. As an owner of both, I like them equal, but in a different way.
The LVc really stands out and the dial in the sunlight is pure magic. The SD43 on the other hand is also a very special watch with a great dial and perfect proportions. I am very happy to own both, for me it's the perfect combo. |

Everybody with a SD43 will say trade.
Everybody with an LVc or Sub preference will say keep. I mean do you want to do what we want or what you want. Seems like you want the LVc so keep it. I would keep it, it's a watch you already own and like. If not trade it.... I've been sucked into this game by the forum and all the beautiful pics and incomings, hopping from watch to watch because I always discover something "I don't like" about mine, usually because of something I've seen on the forum which planted seeds of contempt or the ever popular, looking for the "perfect one". The LVc is fine for daily wear and from a meter out in passing the watch doesn't even look green unless in direct sunlight. |

Wise move. There is no wrong answers but more of a personal/style choice.
