Absolutely, what incentive do they have to display their SS models unless you say you are willing to pay the premium - pieces will magically appear. I am disappointed the consumer is allowing unscrupulous retail practices across all distribution points. This is why holders of SS stock have so much power and are swinging a very big stick!

The worst way in the world to buy a watch is through Craigslist. I've personally been burned. Never again!!! OK, buying off of a street vendor in Chinatown might be worse, nah, Craigslist is the worst.

In classified listings of Rolex watches, sellers often offer to meet at ADs to assuage concerns that the pieces they’re selling might be fake. This is common and does not mean the AD is aware.

will AD allow this kind of business taking place in their shop?

I guess this explains the shortage on a localized level...

I don’t know. I wouldn’t, if I were one. The AD is not in the business of verifying authenticity of Rolex sold on Craigslist. But it is common to see “to meet at an AD” on local classifieds from sellers who want to reassure you the watch is not a fake.

I concur, CL is not where I go when shopping for a new watch.

At least this is obviously and transparently shady. The rest of the ADs probably have an under the table setup which is a bit more hidden.

The links shared by the OP were edited yesterday and the is no reference to meeting at any AD. The Craig’s list poster must read TRF...

No, they still mention meeting at a dealer.

You can tell when a Craigslist post is updated (there is a stamp of last update), and none of the post were updated since the OP first mentioned them.

I figured I should follow-up on my original post. I was talking to a buddy about this who knows a few guys at the AD. He went in today to ask them about the watches and showed the AD the Craigslist ads. The folks at the AD have a good idea who the seller is and said the watches likely came from other stores. They were apparently not pleased at all with the seller offering to use the AD as his sales floor.

I figured no AD was going to be stupid enough to post watches on CL...
