1. Give it underside AR coating on the crystal! 2. The hash marks between second markers are in 1/5 second increments. The watch ticks in 1/8 second increments. Replace the 1/5 increments with 1/4 second increments so, you know, the chrono second hand actually lines up with the hash marks. Fix those things and it's the perfect watch. Oh, ps -- for those who use the chrono but leave the pushers screwed down? Just leave them unscrewed. As long as you don't operate the pushers under water, your Daytona's equally as waterproof with the pushers open vs. screwed down. |

Put me down as another guy that likes a date window. The Daytona is also small for me. 7 3/4” wrists. Rolex says the Daytona is a 40mm watch but it’s really significantly smaller.
Love the look of the ceramic Daytona with the white dial, but the shortcomings outweigh its beauty for me. For Chronographs I’m a Speedmaster guy.

I don't time things to the nearest second often and when I do, I use a proper timing system. They don't use mechanical watches for timing auto races anymore. I have no use for it.

Rings on subdials
Come on, I know you don’t look back but seriously, a panda design is way more legiable. I use the chrono a fair bit. It’s like they don’t want to go panda because they did that in 1973. The black dial 6263 was by far the best design. As for chronos it’s gotta be the speedy. I have a few different iterations and I love them all. |

The only thing I don't like about the Daytona is the lack of availability at the AD's.

I don't like its legibility. Not the easiest to read the time quickly. Give it the ultra quick glance test and see if you can instantly read the time.
Also, the cheap, wonky feel of the pushers when partially unscrewed make me nervous that they will break. Weird design choice for such an expensive piece. They don't feel right in my book. |

I'd say it could do with more legible hands. The legibility is a fairly common complaint with this model

Legibility and lack of date due it for me. Other than that, perfect.

Basically, that’s the perfect Daytona: crisp, legible, endowed with a date, reasonable size for the larger wristed gentleman, available with a warranty card and stickers for about one third the cost of Rolex’s diminutive equivalent and no AD sneerage....

Thanks to your responses
Interesting to hear complains about this acclaimed ultimate of Rolex sport models. This is a photo of my Daytonas back 13 years ago. The Zenith is still with me but never get much of my wrist compared with the Sub. |

Dial is much too cluttered and the readability is very poor. Other than the hype there is just not much to justify the craze.

I do not believe there is consensus that this is the ultimate sport model.

Almost purchased the 116520 before. Twice. But each time I tried it on, it looked a little too small on my wrist. Definitely one of the most photogenic watches though. Might still consider it someday, but not at >13k.

I have no complaints.
Date function would be nice, but would screw up the balance of the watch and likely make movement thicker that would transfer to the case being larger. So no complaints really.

That's the newer co-axial model. Auto-winding 9300 movement, date window instead of a third sub-dial, and a whopping 44.25mm diameter excluding the crown and pushers. There's a white dial Speedy Racing model I'm looking at too. Looks a lot like the ceramic Daytona but larger and with a date window.

Personally I find the Daytona small, hard to read and feminine. Though flawless in pictures and upon close inspection, it is just too small to be useful and the screw down pushers further inhibit usefulness.
I have bought three daytona's for my wife (Pictured...so don't be hating on me you aggressive Daytona fans). She loves them, and boy they look sexy on a sexy lady. A lot of dudes pull them off too. For me however, the only Rolex Chronograph that fit the bill was the Yacht Master II. Big bolt look with a countdown that can actually be read. No silly screw down pushers yet same 100M water resistance. And talk about a little machine. Chronograph with programmable memory, countdown with fly-back and fly-forward. The YMII makes the Daytona look like a simple stopwatch...ohh wait...it... |

I don’t like the bracelet. I bought my white ceramic Daytona and my Rhodium YM at the same time. Both are the first PCL’s I have ever owned and worn.
I am not doing well with them. Both have far more scuffs and scratches than I suspect the average Rolex bracelet shows. That’s on me, of course. I’m not particularly fond of polishing them or brushing them. I keep looking at rubber for both, but I haven’t made the leap yet. I love everything else about my Daytona though. |

Too small, hard to read. Tried 4,5,6 digits but never keep them long. Love the looks on pictures but after 5 tries with Daytona’s I will probably never own another one. Unless I win the giveaway lol.
Agree with the OP about the crown guards, prefer the 4 digits.

I need better visibility and a date on a watch I'm going to wear often. The Daytona just doesn't do it for me...

Too hard to read the time on. I'm also not a fan of rings around sub dials as it just makes the already busy dial even more fussy. Would I turn one down if it were handed to me? Nope. But I'm in no rush to buy one for the RRP price, let alone what they demand currently. |

In my opinion the classic OMEGA moon watch with hesalite is far superior in masculinity, legibility, and over all looks. It's THE chronograph to beat on the market today.

Like most said....too small for a sports watch. Especially having an 8 inch wrist. I tried to like it, but after several tries, it's just not for me. I can see how it can be very desirable for some though.....its a very beautiful watch on the right person.

I think it’s a perfect watch for my 6.5 inch sized wrist
Nothing I’d change except to add glide lock (I know “only for diving blah blah blah” but I disagree I think you can have glide lock on any bracelet watch) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That would be the perfect 6 digit Daytona in my opinion. Heck I'd even take it as a true 40MM and not the 38.6mm it is currently.
