Watch Cushions and 6.25" Bracelers
Hello,
I'm concerned the bracelet on my watches that are fitted for my 6.25" inches are stretching the links. I'm using cushions from Everest and Carapaz. The cushions have great flexibility and seemed like they have enough give for my watches. Has anyone else notice stretching of the links or am I just being paranoid and everything is fine? Thank you. If you can easily close the bracelet on a cushion then you will have no issues.
Closing the bracelet on a large hard cushion using the clasp as leverage could possibly cause damage. I doubt you will stretch any links but I can see a weld snapping off a new style bracelet if you really tried hard.

Wrap a very thin cloth around the watch pillows and compress them using zip ties. That’s what I did to help break mine in. I left the zip ties on for a few days.

Anyone know of any good watch cushions that can be bought separately (similar to the OEM one that comes in box)?

The key is to close the bracelet first, then squeeze the pillow into it. And trust me, a cushion is not going to “stretch” steel.

Have to agree just cannot understand todays Rolex owners, lets use common sense here, fact SS is far tougher than any cloth made pillow and your wrist is too.

Cloth will compress and not stretch or distort stainless. Now if you were trying to compress granite, that would be a different story. This is purely very simple science. I've got to wonder where common sense failed and urban myth won out. Rolex bracelets don't stretch. The connections between links wear from abrasion of the materials rubbing against each other at the connections. That creates gaps and allows the overall bracelet to elongate. We call that stretch but in truth it's wear damage.

I had a few nice orbita winders, which have very specific and firm cushions. They also offer smaller cushions for those of us who are wrist impaired, or women.

Steel is also harder than the human wrist, however bracelets stretch (Yes, I know there are other factors involved). It is not unthinkable that someone can be concerned that bracelets stretch if extremely tight and squeezed on. Again you may not have experienced this if you don't have a small bracelet.
Not saying it happens as i'm not entirely sure of the science behind it, but purely dismissing OP is in my opinion not right. |

To the OP: I have a 6" wrist, and my problem involves damaging the cushions, not stretching the bracelet. Because the cushions get compressed so tightly, they sometimes rip at the seams. My "solution" is to not snap the clasp closed, which would also work for you if you're still concerned about the tight fit for whatever reason. |
