equal...but
Rolex and panerai share some history...earlier panerai's used rolex movements ...
Obviously, panerai now makes their own, and I own both in house auto, pam 312 and a rolex sub date, I feel they are somewhat comparable in quality .... However I would put panerai above rolex in exclusivity and perceived luxury. Rolex while reliable and Imho, not as accurate..i realize mechanical watches aren't as accurate so it's no big deal if my watches are off here and there..i enjoy them for many other reasons than just telling time... Rolex is a safe purchase and therefore very common, but a panerai, it screams individuality and exclusivity...in the end, you can't go wrong but I still feel panerai is a hair above rolex... |

I enjoyed both for different occasions. Rolex is more formal, reliable, accurate, hold its value (for most of its brands), status and mass. Panerai is casual, fun, exclusive/die hard fans.
Now you've heard all you want to, tell us what you decide. Once you've come over the dark side post some shots of your new baby.

I have had a Pam90 for about a year and just picked up a white SS Daytona the other night.
With the Panerai on my wrist, I FEEL it. I love it though. I get the wobble also. I have a few custom straps made and change it(very easily) depending on mood. With the Daytona on my wrist I dont feel like Im wearing anything its so light. I think the Panerai is more recognizable to watch people, while anyone will recognize the Rolex. One of the coolest things is having someone recognize my Panerai when just the crown latch is perceptible outside of my shirt cuff. |

I can really answer this question exactly. I can say that to me, they both appear to be of exceptional quality. In this moment, I'm completely bored with Rolex. Looking forward playing with strap combos on my new pam 351

I would say yes, but then my brand new 351 stopped after 11 days of use.
I think there in house movements need a bit of work to hit, Rolex standards |

i think probably rolex is a better brand. but certainly not to the point that an amateur such as myself would ever even notice. |

No! But this is just my personal experience (Clumsy, rattle and shake, unprecise).
