And the keepers are...

I’m getting close to moving on to a new home...don’t absolutely need to sell a watch or two, but also can’t justify having my current lineup when that money could be used to furnish the new house!

Current lineup is Hulk, BLNR, 16710 Pepsi (with factory oyster bracelet, jubilee, and coke bezel), and black 116500.

The survivors are going to be the Hulk and Pepsi. I love the other two but they just don’t give me the feeling that the Hulk and Pepsi do.

I’d say it’s a pretty good trade off. And discuss.

Tough choice....I’d have a tough time with that, but I’d want to keep a Daytona for sure! No real wrong answers.....

Undoing is never an easy call. Ultimately you said it yourself, if something doesn’t really cut for you anymore send it packing. You should be able to replace the BLNR later if desired. But, dang, cutting loose a 500.....

I just did something similar as you.

Recently sold 116500LN, 116710LN, 16713. I kept the LV sub and TT LB sub.

Don't let the rarity of the Daytona of BLNR deter you from making a decision. As cheesy as it may sound, choose with your heart and when you sell both, you come out a winner by profiting from those models.

If you need to sell off watches to afford furniture I’d say you’re making a good decision.

I agree with the OP’s choice for the keepers. The BLNR and 116500 (esp. the black) never made me reach for my wallet, although I might make an exception for the white DaytonaC. Besides, these two are arguably more available from GM dealers, albeit at a premium, in case a decision to buy back comes along down the road.

Great reason for offloading those pieces, too. Good luck.

Well the BLNR and the 116500LN should both be easy sales and for good money. I can identify with letting go of both of them although I must admit to wearing my Daytona today. Good luck with the sales.

A Sub and a classic GMT Pepsi is all that you need! End of story.

Keep the watches and buy lawn chairs and picnic tables for the house.

Tough choices. If possible, keep all 4.
But start with one, sell BLNR. Daytona, Pepsi and Hulk are keeper..

Tough decision but certainly can appreciate the need to do it (priorities). Personally I'd let go of the BLNR first and try to see if there was a way to hang on to the black Daytona. It's all a matter of personal preference, and keeping those two (Hulk and 5 digit Pepsi) is a totally justifiable decision.

So you can't afford to keep them all, it happens...good choice for two. Take care of the house then buy them all back later. It's what will likely happen anyway so good to keep the hard to obtain watches.

I’d keep the Daytona rather than hulk, but no real wrong answers. They are just watches and can be replaced. Good luck

I’m sorry but that makes no sense to me. You have so much tied up in watches that you don’t have the money in your bank account to buy furniture?

Go inexpensive when it comes to furniture! There’s a lot of mark up in that retail industry & if you are planning to sell I would keep a Sub along with the Pepsi.

Ummm no. If you read my post it says “don’t absolutely need to sell a watch or two.” Meaning I can afford furniture but having stuff laying around in a watch case that gets on my wrist 10% of the time compared to the other 2 watches makes me think why not offload those and deck out our potential new home with the cash.

But as always, the influences on this page make me think twice about offloading...

And to the folks that recommended lawn chairs...try telling that to my wife

I would make the house move and catch a breath on moving the watches. It is always more difficult and typically more costly to replace than just to keep. I know the feeling of looking at watch(s) that just sit there and don't get the wrist time but they are a static asset and might be better used by holding on to them.

I'd agree with this. I've made that mistake before and sold one or two and realised later down the line that I didnt need to and it was a knee jerk reaction

BLNR would definitely be the first to go for me

And even if that was the case, why does it ever need to make sense to you ?

We buy and sell for whatever reason we see fit. I sold off my collection, threw in a bit of cash and got me a vacation home. Was I broke? Far from it. But the joy of offloading my hobby pieces in exchange for a place to kick back and chill was far greater than owning that many watches.

OP: I would offload the modern pieces (BLNR, Daytona, Hulk) - They may be marked up and tough to get right now but the hype will eventually come back down. Capitalize on the madness and when the recession hits you'll have awesome furniture and all of your watches back.

On a side note, have you considered having your furniture made by local carpenters and upholsterers? I did this and saved an incredible amount of money. I bought furniture for an entire 200m² for about $20K with top notch quality.

Just sounded like it to me with the “that money could be used to furnish the house” bit. Anyways, good luck with your choice

By the way I’m on a wait list for the White Daytona C. I have the Black one but the plan has always been to flip that as soon as I can get a white. So that was my thought behind maybe selling now. The second the AD calls me with a white I will be able to happily plunk down the $12,400 and add it to the collection!

as much as i love the Daytona, if its not doing it for you, sell that and keep the 5 digit... with all the craziness lately, you can fetch a nice premium on it! Good Luck!
