Apple iPad

Hi all,

Anyone have the iPad 2018, looking to purchase and just after your thoughts?

Currently use my phone and have a MacBook Pro but never bother using that really.

Any other options welcome.

Thanks.

We have an iPad but I rarely use it. I like the large screen compared to my phone for watching YouTube or Netflix but aside from that I have no use for it.

I have a Mac | iPad | iPhone 8+ | Apple TV

The iPad rarely gets used to be honest. I think the other devices have closed the gap and made the iPad (dare I say it) obsolete.

Why buy an iPad if you do not use your MacBook?

I have an iPad Air on which I often play Solitaire and read Kindle books. Other than that, it just sits and charges.

I use my iPad all the time. It's the device I stauy connected to the internet while at home. I don't have a MAC and a laptop frankly is a bit to bulky. The largest of IPads is easier on the eyes.

I’ve got a couple of iPads both large iPad Pro and smaller Mini. Also MacBook Pro and iPhoneX and Apple TV. I’ve found the iPad can be quicker to use with Apps to handle financial, Motorsports, and paperless document management (digitally accepting contracts and handling digital evidence).

With Airdrop and iCloud sharing I can work on docs from any device since they all share the same productivity suite in iWorks. And if I must print, the AirPrint feature is killer at home and in hotels.

When you put your mind to it, tablets can be almost as productive as laptops. Just be sure to get max GB DRAM to handle and save big files locally. Or plan to get an WLAN SAN to store media, etc.

I have a Google Pixel 2, an iPad and a Mac Book Pro. To be honest, I use my MBP when at home, my phone when out, the iPad stays by my bed charging, for reading online newspaper, remote for Sonos and as an alarm.

Just too bulky to use all the time, sitting on sofa etc

Thanks for all the responses, given me something to think about.

In the family, ipad is only used by the kids and my mom. :)

my favorite device is the Macbook Pro. I would never ever buy a Windows device again...

I do nearly everything personal on my iPad Air2. I don’t even use my computer at home anymore. Everything is on the iPad, including this port I’m writing now.

I have two iPad pros, the 12.9 and 10.5, I use them constantly for browsing, reading books, etc... I rarely use a real PC at home... And I run a data center for a daytime job.

Same here. Mine is several years old, running ios9, and TRF is about the only thing that still works on it.

Would be lost without my iPad. Use it for email, internet, games, Netflix, listening to music, watching movies, taking pictures - just can’t be beat. As noted, indispensable whilst traveling.

We have a Mini, 2 Air 2’s, a 7 (she says she’s not ready to upgrade. Whatever.) an X and, just this week, a new iPad Pro 12.9 I got her for her birthday.
She seems to like the Pro, from what I’ve seen I really like it.
We use our iPads multiple times per day; reading newspapers, emails, online banking, shopping.... I think they’re almost indispensable.

I use my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil all the time. For my business, I live out of my briefcase, so I can’t haul around a bunch of notebooks, binders, etc.

I PDF everything, mark things up with the pencil if necessary. I take note on the iPad during meetings. Much more natural than typing on a laptop.

And as a bonus, I can watch movies or listen to tunes on the plane.

Great for travel, whether local or air travel. Now that I'm traveling more often across several time zones, being able to watch live TV content in the air is way better on an iPad than a mobile phone (even the jumbo-sized "phablets").

I have mine in a Bluetooth keyboard case, for those times when I need to whip up a doc/spreadsheet/extended email.
