I wonder if they are going to use it in the Apollo 11 50th anniversary commemorative? That would make sense..........

Yeah was just reading that..would be epic indeed. But....reading the about process with one watch maker working on the movement, head, bracelet, etc...I bet it is released as some kind of limited edition and pricier than your “standard” speedy. Thoughts?

Omega making exact copies of their popular old stuff? I'm shocked I tell you! SHOCKED!
I hope this goes in the 52nd Anniversary of Apollo 4 version, or maybe the 47th Anniversary of Apollo 9 version. Can't wait for the 68th Anniversary of Apollo 10! |

But, to be fair, 2019 is the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, so, how could Omega not do something? |

This is different. Maybe it doesn't mean much to you, but it may mean a whole lot to some.

Based on their press release I'll bet we've got close to a $15,000 speedy in the works...
"The new movements will now go into production at OMEGA’s HQ site in Bienne. Uniquely, all aspects of creation will be undertaken within a dedicated Calibre 321 workshop. For each movement, the assembly, as well as the watch head and bracelet assembly will be performed by the same watchmaker." https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/om...aster-movement |

This was mentioned in the article on Fratello watches
This movement will not be used in a limited edition watch, but there will be a limitation in production for the reasons stated above. Omega reveiled that there will be something in gold, for sure. Also, this movement will not be used in any of the upcoming Apollo 11 Limited Edition models in 2019. https://www.fratellowatches.com/omeg...50f4-123669485 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

What's the advantage of having this movement compared to the ones used now (besides that this movement was the movement found in the speedmaster that went to the moon)?

Limited blahblahblah....1969(or 2019) copies, $10k msrp, all sold out, $25k secondary market.
Nothing exciting really. Great idea, will be horrible execution. One watch watchmaker assembles every part from scratch. That means time, limited numbers and high price. sounds really cool right..DOA..... |

This is an inspired choice, and for the real lovers of watchmaking. Like most people I dislike the gimmicky special editions Omega releases, but this is the polar opposite. It's completely under the hood and no ignorant casual will get the appeal. The one man, one watch thing is smart as well; as far as I know, the only maker who does that in the Omega/Rolex category of watches is Grand Seiko. Quote:
Another great thing is that this means the part supply for vintage 321 watches is going to be a lot bettter. |

Its great that they are making 321 movement again. But at the same time, they are not investing in making something new and exciting. They are just remaking old stuff and milk the enthusiast / flip-for-profit groups. It would only be shocking if Omega remake the 321 but NOT put it in a Speedmaster.

Well unlike some manufacturers Omega is listening to the Fans. And make no mistake re-creating piece by piece a movement that has been out of production for decades is indeed quite an accomplishment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is similar to Zenith raising the El Primero movement from the dead and putting it in their modern watches. You either get it or you don't.
Whatever the outcome, this has WIS in delirium! |

Got it. Speedmaster Professional with cal 321 will be the Omega version of 116500. Will be made of unobtainium as well. Reasonably priced, exclusive (one-man made) and will have double market price and waiting time of 10 years to be bought at MRSP.
