1675 Chapter Ring and Hands
Does anyone know if the original hands of the 1675’s Minuit hand touches the chapter ring or not or there is a mixture?
I have seen some where the Minuit hand don’t reach the chapter ring and some that do. Also the 24H hand that touches the ring and some that are longer than the ring. Any help would be much appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a 1961 Exclamation Dial CR PCG where the second hand touches the Cr perfectly, the min hand meets exactly like your second example pic and the gmt hand exceeds the CR. Most of the times hands of been changed, curved, flat etc. but I’ve seen both combinations on multiple examples over the years.

Short hands are always later. Very often changed as Autavian says.

I don’t think that’s the case. I have a MK1 long E dial, which never had chapter rings, and according to all of the images found here and elsewhere on the web, the minute hand has always just touched the tips of the indicators.

Very simple. Short hands like on mine here is later. Flat hands with longer minute hand on the second pic is original. No doubt. Originally both hands and dial had the same lume and almost often when changed, the lume will react different under UV light. If you are ever in doubt try this.

Is your 1675 around 1963? ( +-80X,XXX )
My watch maker said that until 1963 Rolex used long hands that touched the ring, but from 1963 they swithced to using shorter hands. I cannot find one picuture of a long hand that was made in 1963 or ( +-80X,XXX ) age. |

You are having problems finding pictures of the correct hands because most are wrong. They have been changed during the last 50 plus years. The correct minute hand is 13mm long Here’s the correct hands

Forget the year its very basic. All chapter ring hands are the same length. All non chapter ring are a shorter length.
