John Lennnon’s 2499

Seeing images of 2499 as a child influenced me into wanting a PCC as a grail.

Let’s hope such a sentimental item is reunited with its rightful owner, whilst there’s still time.

It's always Phillips that "uncovers" some gem huh? Even "special" Omega Speedy with "provenance"... I am sorry but until the actual watch is pictured for public to see, it is really hard to take Phillips seriously nowadays..

Agreed. However, it is tough for the collector who bought it at auction if he loses. I assume he can sue the person who auctioned the watch. I am not sure if the auction house has any liability. They may disclaim such things in advance.

I think that those who take such ridiculously high commissions from the seller and the buyer takes the responsibility for originality. To say nothing else, they should have asked Yoko. It wasn't John Doe's watch, it was Lennon's. I think, it is not so difficult to find the rightful heir these days.

What's more strange to me is that NOBODY asked this simple question at that time when it was up on the auction?

John Reardon and Eric Wind have both suggested recently they are aware of where this watch is, or words to that effect. If it comes up for auction what do we think it will sell for? I guess $10-15M.
