Aquanaut 5164a or Nautilus 5726a leather strap

Hi friends, I知 contemplating on getting my first Patek from secondary market. Both of these watches are of roughly the same price. Which would you recommend to get if I知 looking at value retention and popularity? Appreciate your inputs and advice on advance!

I tried on the 5164a and have seen the 5726a in person. Personally leaning more to aquanaut but will appreciate all your comments and suggestions too! Thank you!

Get the aquanaut imo nautilus should be on bracelet if possible

I’ll be honest, I think you should go for the smaller nautilus based on that photo

I not really a fan of moon phase dials and prefer the simplicity of the 5164.

You mean 5726a white dial?

I would take the Aquanaut over the Nautilus

Other than the obvious, "get what you like best," I think it depends on your collection and goals. If you think you'll get only one Patek, then I'd say an Aquanaut or steel Nautilus is the way to go. However, if you've got steel sports watches already, you may be okay with a strap Nautilus.

Personally, i think the Nautilius on leather doesn稚 look good. It was designed and belongs on a bracelet. The 5726 is also a bit thick, I know it痴 11mm, but the design aesthetic when on the wrist just makes it look thick because a lot of the thickness is midcase and above.

With that said, 5726 complication is more useful (at least for me), than the travel time.

(I知 in all your threads,)

Lots of people are arguing that 5164 looks too big but that would also pretty much rule out 5726 IMO (nominal size is similar, 40.8x10.2mm vs 40.5x11.3mm). Obviously they wear a little different.

I'd go 5711 or 5712 on bracelet if steel Nautilus as you are prioritizing popularity and value retention. Both wear smaller than 5164 and 5726 and few people wanted 5726 on strap before 5711 and 5712 on bracelet had become hard to get from AD.

If Aquanaut, I'd go 5167, or 5165 if you feel 5164 is too large for your wrist. You'd save some as well.

I think the chunkier 5726 on strap looks excellent. It has a lot of presence on the wrist:)

5164 with a properly cut strap as that looks very bad.

Aquanaut looks huge on you. Maybe a smaller model. Let us know your decision please.

Is there no love for the 5726a on strap?!
It痴 interesting that this piece was relatively frowned upon by many who favored a bracelet, yet the grey market price is still way over list.

Very interesting opinions and I see most favour the aquanaut over the leather nauti. I suppose the integrated look of the aquanaut case and rubber strap is a look that most like over the mix-match of the nautilus case / leather combo. But in my biased opinion (5726 leather owner), the nautilus case is more intricate and has harder to finish components than the aquanaut case. The size of the two at 40.xmm is neglibible. I prefer the dial of the 5726 over the dual time aquanaut. And for those reasons, I would choose the nautilus over the aquanaut albeit, on leather strap.
