Rolex President Substantial Increase in Value?

Whoa, what happened to the prices of rose gold and yellow gold president watches over the last year? I see them being advertised for $40k + while they were just selling for $30k last year?

They are looking for the sucker who just walked out of a grey dealer with a $25K Hulk. Do you know if they sold any?

Demand spilling over is my guess.
But asking isn’t always getting.

It's getting harder to source DD40's from what I'm seeing as well.

My AD said DD40s can not be ordered anymore when I was talking to them. I picked one up for my wedding last year. They didnt have the config I wanted (silver romans) but did a special order. They said that is no more!

Could be contributing to it -- also just general demand for Rolex SS sport is driving everything up

You can still get them second hand for around $35k. But a year ago was $28-$30k

Genius marketing ..... create an artificial limited suply and now all want what they can’t have
In my humble opinion to ask 20k+ for a submariner it’s a crazyness....

So, are they discontiniung the line or are they introducing a new model. There wasn't a price increase for the DDII when the DD40 was released.

Even the trusted sellers on this site are asking above MSRP for them.

Neither - there hasn't been any increase in MSRP. Just that these are becoming more in demand as SS prices second hand have been rising so the differential to get into PM isn't as bad. That and the fact that it seems like Rolex is tightening supply making it not as easy (or plentiful) to get these.

Msrp is 36,550

I believe Rolex is being quite successful in moving a significant part of increased demand to PM rather than SS models.

My AD has 19 orders for Day Dates that he can't get inventory to fill, and has multiple locations, with most orders prepaid in full!

And this is something I also see as valid. I am an example. I bought a 116519LN because there was no way I was going to pay 25 for a SS Daytona. I would have bought the full bracelet PM Daytona or the oysterflex, but not SS at that premium. Oysterflex is what I chose because I like the black straps and ceramic bezel.

Gold prices are at or near all time high so all gold jewelry is at a premium.

But the MSRP has not increased in a while. The nonauthorized dealer market prices and used prices are ridiculous. I am going to Cancun next week and I'll see if my dealer over there will discount it for me.

These watches were advertized for $28k early last year and now you can't find them advertized for less than $38k

I agree. If it was their intention, seems to have worked out well.

I sent you a link earlier - they are still available for less than $38k from Takuya and DavidSW

Almost every model in Rolex line up has seen an increase in the last few months. Even DJ's and OP's are high in demand these days it seems.

I do hope this is just temporary and prices go back to normal on PM models. I wanted to get myself a DD40 when I turn 40 but looks like I should've bought one last year when they were still in the 20's.
