No offense and I understand that we live in a free country but, it is very unconforatble seeing pics and comments like that on my monitor. I'm married and I have small children; my wife questioned me about this Forum after she saw this tread on the monitor. One may say "just don't open up the tread", but I would like to be able to open any tread and read your opinion about different subjects and enjoy our hobby. This Forum is about watches and I thank and support Steve on his warning. Again, I don't mean to offend anybody.

This is a watch forum and not a 'porn forum' so all pornographic, sexually demeaning and gratuitous comments will result in severe action being taken.

This is a friendly warning. If you want to see pornographic material or make lude or sexual statements then this is not the web-site for you.

Yes, come on guys - this is a great place for Rolex enthusiasts and certainly for friendly banter. However, this thread has certainly pushed the boundaries of what is acceptable for a mixed membership and I know Lisa was very offended earlier today, which is totally unacceptable. I think that Steve, LOL-X, has been more than tolerant of the wayward antics, but this has got to stop. We're all adult enough to know what is OK to post and let's not put Steve and the Mods in an awkward position to have to lay down what should, in fact, simply be respect for each other.

I would like to share my thoughts on this issue. I was running out the door when I checked in and saw the highly offensive remark. I wrote to the administrator and asked them to remove it immediately.

I wish to be clear on two things:

First, I have learned a great rule for being a Gentle Man is that you NEVER say anything to or about a woman that you would not want somebody to say to your mother, your sister, your wife, your girlfriend or your daughter. I am certain the remark in controversy was something the Gentle Man would NOT say to his his mother–at least I hope not.

The second point I wish to share with you is the reason why I created this thread. I Love the way Rolex mens watches look on women. I find it to be very attractive, timeless and feminine.

I created this thread for all women that are interested so they would have a definitive place they could go and see all the different options and looks. I also thought it would be a place that men like me who love seeing this look could also study it, and if you are so inclined, it could help you with gift ideas–to see what the different options look like.

I had zero intention of creating anything pornographic or distasteful. As a matter of fact it never even crossed my mind. If there were photos of women with big heavy coats wearing their Rolex watches, I would have put those up, but I could not find any.

It also never crossed my mind that I should put a notice in the thread title to warn people if they are at work, but I now understand. Personally, if it were me it would not bother me if somebody at my work–male or female–was admiring the photos of women wearing their watches.

I hope we can put this issue to rest and focus on making this the Definitive Photo Gallery on Earth for Women wearing Mens Rolex watches. I love being a member of the forum and I think there are many fine Ladies and Gentle Men.

Warmest regards,

Jake

Jake
The point of putting a warning up in the title of the thread, and I'm not sure you or others appreciate this, is that in some environtments, e.g. a work environment a work college isn't seeing a watch on a woman's wrist, they are seeing a very near totally naked young woman and the user looking at that woman.

It's about perception and making the forum safe for those users who might be in a public environment where looking at photos of very near naked women will lend itself to be very easily interpreted as inappropriate behaviour.

I hope that is crystal clear.

Sure, one might explain to their work mate that it's 'The Rolex Forum' but, if they have to do that the problem has already occurred. The idea is not to let it happen in the first place.

I couldn't agree more, Steve.

With so many 'newbies' I think it's really important that this be stressed as a forum rule, along with the 'code of conduct' in as far as being respectful to BOTH sexes who are members here.

Steve, I have no problems at all with the pix so far but IMO:

* I was not comfortable with some comments made and at least one link was not acceptable to me.
* All Forum members should be able to open a thread in the 'Rolex General Discussion' section without the fear of embarassing male or female friends or family members. Especially younger family members.
* I accept Jake's post on where he felt his thread he was 'coming from' but IMO I don't think he gave enough thought to some of the more sensitive members of the Forum.
* This thread should be at the least moved to a more appropriate section.

Having said that there are some excellent pix on the thread.

Oh, no, Karis. Does that mean I can't tease Joe (Redshirt) about his shock collar anymore? Seriously, thanks to Steve, JJ, Jim, Hamilton and all you guys who understand when a comment goes a bit too far.

MY TWO CENTS [WHICH WILL BE WORTH ONE CENT, GIVEN THE U.S. ECONOMY, BY THE TIME THIS POSTS]:

1) Freedom, freedom, freedom. Please, let us make a space for free speech. For some time, we've lived in the U.S. with groups using intimidation tactics and ideology to silence others. There's something not entirely American about that.

2) Free speech can only be achieved by the tolerance and patience of mature adults (which we obviously have in abundance here) who are willing to make room for speech that diverges from their preference.

3) I'm very fond of good manners. I admire gentleness in a man, grace in a woman. Personally, I often say/write rude and vulgar things in order to make people laugh, but I am the one who is most disappointed when it turns out that someone has taken offense to something I said in jest. I continue to worry about this in my own behavior.

4) From what I can see, the reaction is out of proportion to the alleged offense. Let's drop it and get back to watches (or sex or women or sexy women with watches).

5) This is a cool thread, for cryin' out loud. If you don't think so, I've got the ophthalmologist for you.

M.

P.S. I believe that this situation will be self-regulating. Everyone is airing the views. This will lead to an appropriate settlement and, in the end, we will all be more aware (and hopefully more tolerant) of our neighbors. A good thing, yes?

Very interesting thread for many reasons.

I am clearly a newbie here, so my opinion is probably not worth much, but that is exactly what was paid for it.

The specific comment as inferred by the wiki link posted by SteyrAUG and which was obviously deleted by the site staff would probably be considered offensive by most reasonable folks regardless of gender; whether or not it is some form of Inet slang is irrelevant IMO.

I work in a culturally diverse environment, and JJ makes a good point about the potential for statements to be interpreted differently by folks from various parts of the globe.

On the other hand, I have seen no pics which even remotely resemble pornography by common definition. Attractive ladies in fashionable attire wearing fantastic timepieces is all I see. If this mandates some form of warning in the subject, than so be it. All of the forums that I frequent have a NN/NL policy in place. I used an acronym so as to minimize any potential offense to anyone who is not familiar with the term or who doesn't choose to research it; if such a reference is considered inappropriate by the site staff, please edit or delete my post.

This is a relatively conservative forum by nature, and anyone who comes here should realize that pretty quickly.

I contributed some of the pics for this thread and I would hope they are not interpreted in any way as pornographic as that was not my intention. I saw this as a light-hearted effort to portray women wearing a Rolex and I refrained from posting some of the more potentially controversial pics that I found. I sincerely hope my posts have not offended any one.

None of the photos was any more risque than what you'd find in People Magazine. I took issue with the deleted comment and the wiki link. Just want to clarify that.

The way I see it, Jake had good intentions for this thread. Unfortunately, a few people felt offensive with the pictures, remarks. Totally understood. I'm sure everyone will use caution when posting a thread, including me. Thanks to Jake, my girlfriend really likes the SS Daytona after seeing some of the pictures. Oh well, everyone makes mistake now and then. In the end, the most important thing is that we're all HAPPY! BTW, 40mm is awesome on the ladies.

Hi Nilson!!!

I love this photo of the GMTII-c. In an interesting way it is the best, most character defining image I have ever seen of this watch and it illustrates the future direction Rolex is taking in a positive direction.

I say this for several reasons:

1. You see how flat the watch lays on the wrist since Rolex got rid of the Bubble-Back. 25 Years ago when I got my first Sub and looked at the Sea Dweller, I could not understand why the did not sit flat on the wrist. Of course the first Rolex I noticed with the flat back is the Yachtmaster and it looks like it makes the watch fit so much better on this new case design. I pray that Rolex does the same with the upcoming Submariner.

2. It is so fascinating how they also made the case a tad bit thicker but since they gave it a flat back the watch takes on a whole new substantial looking dimension. More mini-vault like than ever.

3. You really see the shape of the new wider, squarer case with the much more substantial crown guards. Once again, The more substantial crow gaurds are a carry-over from the Yachtmaster and Explorer II.

4. Your image illustrates that this watch looks great on a female with small wrists and we know it also looks great on a man with huge wrists.

This is just such a great shot!!! I am not crazy about dark nails, but the woman has beautiful hands.

That watch looks so substantial!!!!! It emanates masculine energy in a cool and interesting way.

I take my hat off to Rolex for developing this new design language. As a designer, I must admit I did not see it coming but I really like it. As my signature says "Everything once considered classic was once considered modern." I am certain that applies to this new design.

Thanks for sharing.

Jake

David,

Great eyes and attention to detail. I guess she really does wear it as more of a bracelet.

Also, I think she perhaps copying Elle Macpherson with the gold Daytona which really is a stunning bracelet on a tan woman.

Just had a Deja Vu Moment...

It is funny Steve because 25 years ago when I got my first Submariner my girlfriend liked it so much she went out and got a GMT just like the one in the picture. My girlfriend Ashley even had strawberry blonde/red hair like this image....

Great shot!!! Thanks for sharing...
