My brother had an E46 330i in the same color as yours back when he got his license in 2004. It consumed about 2 quarts of oil for every 1000km. Had 50K kilometres on the clock.

Congratulations! Looks like a good project car and one you will really enjoy when completed. Looking forward to checking in on your progress!

Was running some diagnostics tonight and never noticed a slight ticking noise that sounds like it could be a lifter. E46fanstics say it could be the injectors, could be a lifter. Isn’t loud enough to hear inside the car but it’s audible standing outside. Plus the blower motor for the fans appears to be shot as it has no forced air. Yippee -.- hopefully the trans is the TCC, parts are starting to add up already. At least the heated seats and every other interior electronic works, sans the CD player which I could care less about.

Does a Coupe get much prettier than this? Maybe an Alfa 1750 GTV but not much else.
These were way out of my price range new and by the time I could afford a used one I was worried about what kind of life it had had (they were still around $80K when 10 yrs old.) I still regret not owning one.

Still have mine, bought brand new in 2005 ZCP, 85k miles on it and lots of instructing at track days. Can't bring myself to sell it now with 2 kids and it sits in the garage most of the time. Still love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

That was without a doubt my favourite M3. It also had the best sounding engine of the bunch too in my opinion. Anyone that owns an E46 CSL is very lucky! |

Even though she has seen plenty of track days, she is well cared for. As my garage eats more and more motorized toys, it may get to a point where I'm forced to move her. Hate to do it but we are getting close to that point as my boys are starting with karts. Cinnamon interior too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Thanks, Bas!
Very popular with the BMW track/race community. Forged (technically flow formed which is close enough), well designed, relatively inexpensive and lots of sizing options. https://www.apexraceparts.com/wheels...c-8-wheel.html |

I would certainly prefer the right type of buyer if I were to sell. I'll keep you in mind, send me a PM with your info. I can email you some additional pics as well. Definitely not an SMG, 6MT. Milltek section 2 and muffler, TC Kline suspension, GC Sways, KN63 filter. Pretty stock otherwise, she is a peach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Was hoping to find parts locally, no such luck. Bought a FSR for the ac and heat blower motor, TCC solenoid and a pan gasket and new trans filter. Will be here within a week. Excited to see if the trans is toast or not. I rebuilt the 4l60e on my Tahoe and this one is built off that design, so I might buy a cheap one off eBay and rebuild it since I doubt this trans will have too much life left even if I can get it going. Can’t decide on paint matching a new hood or going the carbon fiber route. Seems like the cheapest option would be a CF hood and I could drive it as is and get it painted later if I don’t like it. Carbon creations hood is $600 shipped, unpainted aftermarket is are $350

Well got it started today, got down to the TCC solenoid, the trans pan didn’t look great, the gasket they sent me didn’t fit and I forgot to bring a torque wrench so I’ll be wrapping it up in the morning. The valve the TCC was supposed to actuate was frozen pretty well, so I’m remaining optimistic despite how dirty the pan was. If not she will be getting a rebuild. Pulling the trans doesn’t look too hard thankfully, just have to remove the exhaust and a few access panels.

Still have to glue that stupid trim piece back up. Hopefully the FSR shows up early tomorrow. I’m pretty excited to get this thing on the road. Normally don’t fall in love with cars like I have with this one.

A true classic. I remember when I was finishing up college I wanted an E46 M3.
Through the years I’ve been lucky enough to own 4 bmws. Currently looking to trade my 535 F10 for a new 540 m-sport. I can’t wait to see how your project turns out! Perhaps some BBS wheels? |
