Unwanted emails.

I keep getting irritating emails from an (unsolicited), American, 'word quiz' company.
To "manage my subscription", they ask for my email address.
Would it be daft, to provide this (hopefully to cancel 'subscription) ....if so, what is the best way to put a stop on on their messages?

I’d set a filter to automatically put messages from that sender in the trash bin. That’s what I do. I use gmail and Outlook and they both have that option.

Unwanted emails.

1-Don’t provide your email. Obviously they have it, but I’d just skip to #2 below.

2-Your email provider should have an option in your settings to tag the sender as spam, or block sender, or put them on a blacklist.

Is every email from the same addy?
Or multiple different addys?

I’d go onto your email providers service settings and blacklist their address or anything with @xxx related to them.

Thank you everyone.

The answer was staring me in the face!

I just right-clicked on the senders address and selected BLOCK. Job done.
Never had to do that before, so, I've learned something today.

Glad you figured it out, Steve. In Gmail, you can "report spam" which may or may not do anything (likely helps Gmail automatically filter things) & you can also block senders. You can also search your entire inbox for the word "unsubscribe" & since all marketing emails have this, just block all of them in one fell swoop.

So do I, Paul, but these were just silly clickbait questions on a page, full of peripheral advertisements.

You are still protected by GDPR clone in the UK

Note: If you received an email, it means they know your email address. That is why opting out is not risky. Also, if you try this and they don't stop spamming you, you can file a claim with your local SA as your privacy rights have been violated.

You could just have googled ‘unwanted emails’?

LOL. There's one in every bunch.

Perhaps two.

I work under the philosophy that these spammers buy a crap-ton of email addresses and send out these mass mailings. If you don't fall for it but confirm your address by trying to unsubscribe, that just confirms to them that it is a valid, working email account, and they can resell it for even more money.

So I never respond, never click, never unsubscribe. Just use whatever tools are available to block, report, ignore, etc. the sender.

Fortunately our free email services are getting better and better at filtering out these things. Unfortunately, now I'm getting text message SPAM for upcoming elections, which aside from occasionally being amusing, are very annoying.

Agree Michael, maybe three

I just 'block' anything I don't like the look of.

PS. your, disclaimer made me chuckle.
