Disappearing thread.

Hi guys. I saw a thread on a submariner for sale. Emailed the seller and agreed to purchase and wire funds tomorrow. After closing the deal, I checked the thread again and it’s gone. Looked up the seller info, and underneath name says “banned”. I have purchased and sold many watches to members on this forums. I asked the seller why the post was taken down.. he states that he was being lowballed and ask mods to take it down... am I being taken for a ride here?

Looks like you were stopped before being scammed on a watch purchase. Make sure you only buy from a trusted seller here and do your due diligence.

What made you jump after qualifying the Seller and prepare to send funds? That’s the question to share so others can learn.

Even a low 10 posts after selling and buying from ‘many’ members, it only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch for many.

Seller had prior feedback and has been a member since 2011..

There are Sellers and there are Trusted Sellers. There is a difference.

I do not know your particular instance.

I will say that we have had a proliferation of long-time members with accounts phished or hijacked, so you may not have been corresponding to an actual member, but a con-man.

We have had no seller/member complain, or contact the Forum, about an account banned without cause.

This. The member who owns the account may be legit but it may have been compromised by a phishing scam. Can’t be too careful.

Correct. I believed this is what happened. Person never replied to any more emails after I back out of deal. Thanks to everyone.

Unless it's one of the top 4 Sellers here, assume it's the first.

As other said, many older member profiles are being jacked when they see a email they've been away from a long time. The new fraudster buys a Pledge and assumes the role.

Its scary. Good you're not out of pocket.
