Icon17 expert advice needed please

Hi Gent's, i'm thinking of buying this...please could you take a look and try to authenticate it as best as you can?

Horrible pic, looks ok tho...my advice don’t pay too much is the bottom of the totem pole for Rolex

expert advice needed please

Pics aren’t great but there appear to be scratches on the dial. That suggests that the crystal is acrylic vs sapphire. Acrylic was the standard material used for many years and the scratches can be easily polished out if not too deep. Rolex’s transition to sapphire varied by model. For the Oyster Perpetual it was around 1991 to give you an approximate youngest age of this watch.
When this type of question is asked it’s useful to have a photo on the movement to help verify authenticity.

I agree here. (looks ok) The money is your biz but consider the cons if you make a deal. Will it need service? Your buying it head only. The wrong box has no value.

All I can say is the box is 30yrs newer than the watch which is usually cause for more questions.
