Thoughts on WG Daytona v Meteorite GMT
Hi everyone,
Wanted to get thoughts on the WG Daytona (116509) or the WG Meteorite GMT. Thoughts on one over the other? I use the chrono function almost daily but really like my Pepsi. For reference I have a 116500 white, a new Pepsi, a YG Daytona on OF with meteorite, explorer 2 (with the red hand), and a couple of pateks (5146g and 5905P). Appreciate thoughts. |

Why add any of those 2? You already have multiple daytonas and a pepsi. And that is coming from someone who has the GMT meteorite. And it’s a beautifull dail. But since you already have a meteorite, you know that.

I agree. I love the WG daytona but you already have a 116500 and a meteorite Daytona which is the ultimate. Maybe a platinum Daytona or an AP chrono.

For what it's worth I have the rose gold meteorite daytona and the white gold meteorite GMT. This combo works for me :)

Thoughts on WG Daytona v Meteorite GMT
I’d go WG Daytona, personally. The Daytona fits me better than a GMT,

The meteorite is a fantastic unicorn. But objectively as a watch it is way less legible. Great for flexing but for actual reading the time I’m not convinced.

True. After more than one year, I am still not not very fond of it. Much preffer the steel jubilee Pepsi or a soon to have YG sub, RG GMT or YG DD40. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm not sure if it even exists but is that MK1 bezel GMT with brighter blue and red or just how the picture was taken? |

Thanks all for the pictures and advice. Eric’s watches and Arbees’s watches look amazing. Ken’s word also carries a lot of weight with me given his epic collection. The AP counsel is good because I haven’t ventured into AP—the nearest dealer is probably 5 hours from me—but I really like the RO chronos. I am going to look into those—thanks Tanuki. I turned down the platinum Daytona because I have a platinum PP chrono so made some ridiculous argument to myself that I don’t need two platinum chronos. Decisions, decisions…
Thanks for the continued thoughts and ideas |

I don’t think the Pepsi hits as hard as the Daytona (meteorites). It’s a bit more washed out.. problem is the Daytona is a lot more money (paid twice as much..but I think it’s worth it) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have owned a GMT meteorite for over six months now . It’s not as legible as a black dial Sub but it’s not that hard to read the time, at all. This issue is greatly exaggerated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Those pictures and comparison are really helpful—thank you. Your AP looks great. Wow that is a stunner.

A bit of insight. I could have got a meteorite GMT pepsi from my AD just after release a few years back. I remember going to a Rolex dinner event and being presented the watch and my first reaction was, WTF, hard pass. It's white on white on white, I have to squint to tell the time on this thing lol
Fast forward to 2023 and I'm like, I better get one now as they are pretty thin on the ground and they will likely go the way of the meteorite Daytona and be discontinued next March. Now that I have it, I love it though. And yes the Daytona is a stunner but I feel I can wear this more often without attracting too much attention. |

Thoughts on WG Daytona v Meteorite GMT
126719BLRO Meteorite is an amazing watch. Waited a long, long time for one and couldn’t be happier. I have other watches, but it could easily be a daily if one was so inclined. The dial is just mesmerizing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Its not often in a Daytona vs [insert other Rolex here] discussion that it's the [insert other Rolex here] that's being criticised for having the poorer legibility.
OP - you didn't mention what dial for the 509?

It seems the running comment about the GMT is that it’s hard to read given the dial—but I’ve got crap eyes, and it’s perfectly legible in all lighting in which I have worn it. Never have had an issue.

It sounds to me as if the Daytona fits into your collection and lifestyle better.
