I'm in southern Norway! This was on the Suleskardvegen, a mountain pass near Lysebotn and Stavanger (famous for the fjord, Kjeragbolten and Preikestolen).
The road opened May 21, I was there 4 days later.

I planned to do hiking, but only managed to do 1 large hike, because all the mountain hikes are too dangerous now, snow, bad weather, too slippery and exposed. I couldn't take off work 3 weeks in July/August, but I will do that next year.

This trip I drove 3521km, from Home in the South Netherlands, through Germany, to Copenhagen Denmark, then over the bridge to Sweden (was stopped for drug check, dogs and everything), camping there, went to Volvo museum, then on to Norway.

The Volvo I bought in Jan, 2019, at then age 24, it's still my first and only car.

Love the 240 Volvo’s. Had a 1989 DL sedan back in the day and drove that thing till it rusted out … over 600,000 Km and pretty much just changed the oil and tires

How many KM do you have on yours?

PS, sounds like a fantastic road trip

Wow. What an incredible picture.

You live in heaven dude. I’m sure it’s cold. But it’s certainly beautiful.

With all that snow, I can’t believe how clean the car and the road is.

Thanks for sharing the story and the picture.

Safe travels, Bas! I'll be going on a road trip or two soon. First up is a day trip to Niagara falls, haven't been there in 2+ years.

Keep the pictures coming as your journey progresses!

Bas, you do things so well! It makes me wonder if there are any lifestyle or consumer choices where you aren’t ‘driving tastefully’! Be safe. Thanks for sharing the pic.

Almost summer? Here in Southern California we skipped spring/summer, and went straight from winter to fall.

Love the Volvo. One of my first cars was a 1983 240DL. This thing was a tank. Absolutely indestructible. I bought it for $500, which to this day is the best $500 I ever spent on anything. I kept it for 2 years. I never did an oil change or changed a tire or a brake pad. Besides gas, it never cost me a penny. I sold it 2 years later for $500 (to a crackhead -- long story!). And then I moved up to an Audi A4. That was quite the upgrade as you can imagine.

Beautiful photos Bas. For those of us not on Instagram etc., this gives a good sense of your trip. I particularly love the photos from in the car, and the one looking down at the lake. What a pretty country.

Fkin scary man.
I drove from Copenhagen Denmark over the Øresondbron (famous bridge) to Sweden, and after paying at the toll booth I was told by the police to go to the right and stop the car.
They asked me some questions (if I have anything illegal in the vehicle, my papers, what I'm doing in Sweden), then I had to get out of the car, they checked if I had anything on me, then had a dog and officer go through the car.

The car was obviously packed with my camping gear and clothing, food, 40+L of water, so not much space for people and a dog to rummage through.

Then we chatted a bit, and they started talking Swedish to each other, which I can understand a wee bit, but not much of. Then they said the dog showed a particular interest in the front right passenger area...

Obviously I was already quite nervous, driving a hippy vehicle with Dutch licence plates as a solo male traveller in his 20s, driving around with snoop on the radio. They had all the reasons to check me.
I do happen to enjoy some fine grass from time to time, which I bring home in this car, in a bag, after visiting our legal dispensaries.... Which the dog could smell of course...

So then he asked me again, if I really do not have anything illegal on me or in the vehicle. And I told him no, I do not, they believed me and told me to go ahead and enjoy Sweden & Norway. And I was on my way...

Quite a stressful morning lol, being sleep deprived, driven 980km the day before, a bit nervous already because of the massive trip I was doing, and then the unexpected drug check.
After the first camping night in a Swedish forest I definitely relaxed for the rest of the trip

Same as alcohol, and of course never during working hours or when operating a vehicle/machinery.
