5164R or 5712R or both

hi friends,
i was just offered a 5164R aquanaut travel time, which seems to be super-popular here:::)))) i really like the watch but i have a nautilus 5712R, which has some similarities with the 5164R, at least superficially. what do you guys think, which one has the edge? i need to add that i do travel a lot, so the complication on the 5164R makes sense. but i do fear that the aquanaut will depreciate while the nautilus will appreciate.....maybe the two watches are too similar?
my other pateks are 5711R and 5227R, with 5980AR coming this year and 5320G next year.

Add the 5167a

I just noticed the 5711r and 5164r are same price point. My thought would be 5711r and 5164a

no chance for a 5164A this year, but i read you. issue is that the 5712R is a very attractive watch, difficult to let go....:::)))

It sounds like you really like the 5712r, so I would not part with it. You don’t want to have regrets. I would only add at this point and trade when you know you won’t miss a watch.

I would trade the 12R for the 64R as you will have two other gold Nautiluses, which I love, and so I'd rather a third be a Aqua, and the 64 dial is wonderful and ideal for your travels.

IMHO don't let the 12r go. Yes the 11r has similar proportions but still the 12r is sooooo good. Given your gold heavy collection, I would add 64a for a change, also more reliable during traveling than gold.

Given the heavy spend on pm pateks you did with your ad, they should be able to get one for you quickly

I also have th 5712r. It is a keeper for me. I would either wait for the 5164r or I’d get a PM Rolex GMTIIC for travel. The Rolex is way more robust, especially if you travel with only one watch.

I have a 5712r and tried on a 5164r for the first time today. I thought i would like the latter more... i did not!

5164r is heavier, thicker, less refined, less... patek!

Glad i like what i own more, will be a less costly affair for me!

bit boring the 5524R, no? i actually dislike the pushers on the left, as on the G model. in fact, i do prefer the 5164 over the 5524, no matter what metal.

Yeah, same here, but another option for you just as you were deciding.

Good move if you ask me. As a 5172R owner myself I really can't see myself ever parting with it. Something very special about it.

Given how limited the production of the 5712R appears to be and the current demand and pricing dynamics of the 5711/1A and 5712/1A, if you are reluctant to let the 5712R go I think it is better to wait until you are firm in your decision - as you are planning to do. This is likely to be a very challenging piece to reacquire and any reacquisition might end up having to ruefully take place at a material premium to the retail price.

As it is, I think that the 5712R is an excellent and versatile piece and it is in fact one that I am considering myself.

In considering the piece, I have come to learn from authorised dealers how few they receive - most note between one and two pieces per year. It is interesting that your authorised dealer is expecting none this year, however...!
