After buying a white face for MSRP and comparing it to my GMT ll C there is NO way I would ever pay retail for one again.

No date?

I was offered a new model SS WHITE face in the Caribbean last year while on a cruise at an AD. It was about approx $400 less than the MSRP American price and I said -15% which they said no so I walked.

Having owned a Daytona I really would never pay near retail again since it does not move me like the DD or GMT.

And to think this watch will keep going up 5% twice a year. Amazing.

Would not buy a Daytona, with or without a discount. Not the watch for me.

I would not even buy a 50 dollar swatch watch for full price. There is always a deal and always a steal to be had.

Sure, if you want the watch and no discounts can be had, why not pay MSRP for it?

I think overstate the importance of discounts and the size thereof in general. If I have decided for something, e.g. a new Rolex, the price is only one out of many factors: It this the copy I really want? (inspected it with a loup) Do you like and/or trust the seller? Is the price good enough?

Some people will spend days if not weeks for save an additional % here or there, but I value my time more than that. If it is the watch I want per se, and I can get the price to where I want it, then I move forward. And never look back.

no way (my first post on TRF was about an AD that had a white face daytona that I passed on). people who use 'if you have the money, do it' as an argument pi$$ me off. I could have all the money in the world, I'm not paying full retail on anything. ever. it's also that kind of attitude that allow ad's to ask/charge full retail. if enough people walk into an ad and say 'eh, nah, I think I'll wait for a better deal', then you'll start seeing better deals.

Nope. If I said YES then I'd be the reason why AD's treat Daytona's so special...buy at any cost? Nope that is why the AD's say things like.."NO DISCOUNT ON Sports Models OR Daytona's"....

Yesterday, I asked about getting on the Ernest Jones list over here in the UK and they won't even add your name.
If I am willing to pay £1000 I could have one tomorrow. I will not be buying!
