Pictures of other people's Rolexes!!!

Quick! Try to get a picture of other people's Rolexes. Spotted.

Or- go up to them and tell them why you're taking the picture and see if they'll model it for you.

Then when you're done, ask them to take that suitcase to the airport you've so carefully packed.

About the TRF and how we are all watch fanatics who go ""googoo- gaga" over beautiful timepieces and that you think their watch belongs in that category and t/f want to share it with us.

No hooking up involved. Just stating how more drastic occurrences have taken place after less interesting questions. So this may be worth a shot

We did, however, it is obvious by the responses you have received so far, you have not realised that your thread was a little

This is brilliant!
Can you imagine TRF members with DSLRs running after random people with Rolexes!?
That being said, I won't be participating. Good luck.

Quite a funny thread and concept but I wouldn't feel comfortable asking people to let me take a picture of their watches, I did compliment a few people I've seen here and there on their beautiful timepieces but I wouldn't like to try to sneak and take my cellphone out to take pictures of their wrists. In all honesty I wouldn't really like people to do this to me so I'd rather not do it to them either.

Interesting idea. The execution, however, is a little on the creepy side.

Could end up with a broken nose and a camera which can only be removed by intrusive surgery. Not a good idea.

That's what I was thinking...Follow me around with a camera for a few minutes popping off pics when you think I'm not looking, and see how it ends.

I have asked a number of people to let me take pictures of their watches over the years and I don't think I've been refused ever.

The ones that come to mind now are various vintage watches.

In each case, the owners knew that they were wearing special watches, because they'd been wearing them for decades or they had inherited them and were the types to keep their watches serviced and in fine working order.

Therefore they were eager to show them off.

For example, this watch was worn by a member of one of my bowling leagues.

Here's another Rolex a friend let me take a picture of.

Not at all.

I just choose not to be rude and ask threatning questions of total strangers.

Would you do the same for peoples jewelry?

Hell no, I don't stop strangers or people in passing to ask to photograph their watch.
You stop and ask me I'll be highly suspicious. This is something I would consider rude and inappropriate, maybe even violating my privacy(think paparazzi).

These are the only two pictures that I can find at this time, but I have asked people whom I don't know if I could take pictures of their watches.

It does take some tact and some conversational skills and you have to be prepared for rejection.

I've never had anyone get irate about it.

Here's a picture I just located.

This man was a total stranger with whom I struck up a conversation regarding his watch and he was kind enough to let me take a picture of it.

Thank you Grady. Finally someone who understood what this was meant to be. It was in no way intended that you should stalk somebody else and snap a picture like paparazzi, it was really just meant to admire beautiful timepieces. Frankly, it's a little disturbing how many people objected to this with such strong feelings. Which leads me to wonder why they assumed the main purpose was to sneak around? It was really meant to start up a conversation with a fellow watch enthusiast and be able to share it with the world.

I don't even acknowledge a Rolex on someone's wrist, let alone ask them if I can take a picture. If someone approached me and asked me to model my watch for them, I'd have one hand on my hip, and politely tell them to leave me alone.
